About this file
This document is a comprehensive set of construction specification documents for the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center's MICU-CCU-SICU Upgrade project (Project Number 580-23-110). The solicitation is a 100% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) set-aside construction contract valued between $5-10 million, with a 900-calendar day performance period. The project involves renovating intensive and critical care units in Building 100, encompassing general construction, demolition, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, radiation protection, fire protection, and telecommunications work.
Key technical specifications detail requirements for various building systems including structural steel framing, metal decking, firestopping, joint sealants, resilient flooring, gypsum board, acoustical ceilings, doors, frames, glazing, and associated accessories. The project requires precise installation standards, quality control, commissioning, and adherence to VA design guidelines. Contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM), certified through SBA VetCert, and meet NAICS code 236220 small business standards. A bid bond is required with the proposal, and performance and payment bonds will be mandatory for the awarded contractor.
