About this file
This is a Question and Answers document for Helium Refrigeration System Notice ID 481327, which addresses clarifications regarding the scope and technical requirements for a helium liquefier system procurement.
The supplier's scope is limited to providing only the liquefier plant at the specified capacity of 260 liters per hour at 4.5K, with no additional cold-end components included such as valve boxes, analyzers, helium buffer tanks, liquid-nitrogen tanks, or inter-equipment piping beyond the cold-box-to-dewar transfer-line spool. The dewar shall operate at 1.3 bar pressure and 4.5K base temperature. The system must utilize a closed-cycle cooling loop design. Site utility conditions available include cooling water at 86°F with 22.5 psid differential across the compressor at 200 GPM flow rate, three-phase electrical power at 480VAC/60Hz, and compressed instrument air at 100 psig with a -60°C dewpoint. No vibration tolerance requirements are specified. The document clarifies that no responsibility for downstream cooling loads or system configuration beyond the liquefier delivery is included in the supplier's scope of work.

Helium Refrigeration System – Notice ID 481327 Question and
Answers
• Helium return-gas temperature and pressure:
The dewar shall operate at a pressure of 1.3bar and 4.5K
• Number and type of downstream loads, and whether a valve box is required:
The scope is only for supplying the liquefier plant as specified, at the specified capacity. No other cold end scope is included such as valvebox, etc.
• Whether an analyzer, helium buffer tank, liquid-nitrogen tank, or any inter-equipment piping beyond the listed cold-box-to-dewar transfer-line spool is required in the supplier’s scope.
No other scope is included.
• Any available temperature-ramp profile, operating description, or downstream-load/system drawing.
No other cold end scope is included such as valvebox, etc. or responsibility regarding the cooling loads.
• Available site utility conditions for cooling water, electrical power, and compressed gas.
