About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for Request for Quote Number 472719 concerning the procurement, configuration, and delivery of high-stability unipolar magnet power supply systems, issued on March 6, 2026.
The document addresses five clarifications related to the Statement of Work (SOW) and Draft Purchase Order specifications. Key resolutions include: confirmation that the designation "H" was missing from Page 13 of the Draft PO and has been incorporated into Amendment 3; clarification that size, efficiency, cooling method, and setting resolution are not critical specifications, with stability and output being the important parameters; specification that three power supplies designated F (1) and H (2) shall include automatic polarity switching capability allowing output polarity to be configured as either positive or negative, with user-selectable binary selection and no transition between polarities during normal operation; confirmation that Designation F includes the polarity inverter in accordance with the SOW despite system truncation issues in the award system, with Amendment 3 manually incorporating cutoff descriptions to avoid confusion; and confirmation that Designation H includes the required polarity inverter. All amendments reference the Draft Purchase Order file "B.1_472719 - Enclosure A_DRAFT Purchase Order_AMEND 2._02-27-2026.pdf" and its subsequent amendments.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
REQUEST FOR QUOTE NUMBER 472719
PROCUREMENT, CONFIGURATION, AND DELIVERY
OF HIGH-STABILITY UNIPOLAR MAGNET POWER SUPPLY SYSTEMS
MARCH 06, 2026
# QUESTIONS ANSWERS
1 Can we assume that on Page 13 of the Draft PO, it should read “Magnet Power System – Designation H, the “H” being missing?
This is correct. “H” was missing and has now been incorporated into Amendment 3, updating DRAFT Purchase Order.
2 The SOW doesn’t seem to address normally critical specifications for this type of power supply, including (but not limited to) size, efficiency, cooling method (water or air, for instance), and setting resolution.
Is this an oversight, or are these parameters not critical to usage at the Tandem?
The other parameters are not critical. The important ones are the stability and output as listed in the SOW.
3 A review of the SOW_REV1 in Attachment 1 of the file named "B.1_472719 - Enclosure A_DRAFT Purchase Order_AMEND 2._02-27-2026.pdf" outlines that one part of the Acceptance Criteria is 'verified operation of polarity inversion'. However, these Power Supplies are listed as Unipolar Power Supplies. Please provide details of the required polarity inversion.
Three power supplies, designated F (1) and H (2), shall include an automatic polarity switching capability allowing the output polarity to be configured as either positive or negative. The polarity selection shall be user-selectable and binary, with the supply operating in either positive or negative polarity only. The power supply shall not transition between polarities during normal operation.
4 Note on SOW rev 1 – Designation F requires polarity inverter, however P.O. draft does not include.
Our award system truncates lengthy descriptions.
However, Designation F does include the polarity inverter in accordance with SOW.
Amendment 3 manually incorporates cutoff descriptions for line items in the DRAFT Purchase Order to avoid confusion.
5 Note on SOW rline-itemsignation of G and H are separated on Rev 1 and “H” was left off in Rev 1 description. SOW rev 1 states designation H should have polarity inverter.
Please refer to the response to Question #1.
Yes, Designation H includes polarity inverter.
