About this file
This is Addendum No. 2 for the Baraga Correctional Facility Housing Unit 8 Roof Replacement project, issued by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) and Department of Corrections (DOC) on November 27, 2024. The addendum adds specification section 074619 for steel siding requirements and makes revisions to the original contract documents dated September 30, 2024. Key changes include the addition of steel fascia and soffit requirements, revision of Architectural note 5 to specify blow-in fiberglass insulation totaling R-20 throughout the attic space, and modification of Details 2 and 4 to change vinyl fascia/soffit to steel. The bid date remains December 4, 2024.
The new steel siding specifications require galvanized steel complying with ASTM A653/A653M G90 coating, with minimum 29 gauge thickness for soffit and 26 gauge for fascia. The soffit must have a 16-inch exposure in V-grooved, double-board style with perforated ventilation. The manufacturer must provide a 15-year warranty against chalking and fading. Six approved manufacturers are listed including EDCO Products, Gentek Building Products, Norandex, Quality Edge, Rollex Corporation, and United States Seamless Inc. Installation must include protection against galvanic action where steel contacts dissimilar metals.
