About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for Request for Quote (RFQ) Number 468178 for an Automated Pumpdown and Venting System for a Vacuum Film Deposition Chamber. The Q&A provides technical details about a custom vacuum chamber that is 58" in diameter and 50" in depth, constructed of steel and coated in glyptal. The system requires specific performance capabilities, including pumping down from atmospheric pressure to e-5 torr in 10 minutes, venting from vacuum to atmospheric pressure in under 15 minutes, and a minimum water pumping capacity of 100,000 l/s. The chamber has several 3" ports that could be used for a cold head installation, and while a system image is provided, schematic and electrical drawings are not available. The document is dated November 5, 2025, and represents the first round of questions and answers for potential vendors seeking to quote on this specialized scientific equipment.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
REQUEST FOR QUOTE NUMBER 468178
AUTOMATED PUMPDOWN AND VENTING SYSTEM FOR VACUUM FILM DEPOSITION CHAMBER
ROUND 1
November 5, 2025
# QUESTIONS ANSWERS
1 To determine the best approach, could you please provide the make, model, and—if applicable—the serial number of the deposition system that will be outfitted with the turbo pump and chiller?
It is a custom unit. It is 58” in diameter, 50” in depth, there is a removable door that slides into place.
2 Please specify the chamber dimensions. 58” in diameter, 50” in depth, there is a removable door that slides into place.
3 Where in the chamber do we install the cold head?
What are the cold head dimensions?
The chamber has several 3” ports which could be used for a cold head.
4 Is it possible to provide a drawing for the requested system?
58” in diameter, 50” in depth, there is a removable door that slides into place.
5 Can you provide any more details on this system as described below? any pics?
• Chamber dimensions
• Material of construction
• System schematic for vacuum
• Electrical drawings of the system
58” in diameter, 50” in depth, there is a removable door that slides into place.
Image below.
Steel, coated in glyptal.
Schematic and electrical drawings are not available.
6 Could you send me the additional documents which show the desired pump down times and volume?
~2.2 cubic meters, pump down from atm to e-5 torr, 10 minutes, pumpdown from vacuum to atm in under 15 minutes. Must have a minimum of 100,000 l/s pumping of water.
7 I would assume that these pumps are for an existing chamber, if so, will the additional documentation state the dimensions and material of the chamber/system?
58” in diameter, 50” in depth, there is a removable door that slides into place.

Steel, coated in glyptal.
