About this file

This is a Wage Decision Conformance letter from the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division to the Michigan Department of Environmental Great Lakes, and Energy regarding prevailing wage rates for the New Haven Section 5-10 & Plank 1-1 Project in Montcalm County, Michigan. The letter addresses proposed classifications and hourly wage rates for workers performing well plugging and related oil and gas extraction activities on the project. The conformance decision applies specifically to work being completed in Montcalm County for the Plank 1-1 well location under wage determination MI20260040 MOD 0.

The Department of Labor approved four requested classifications—Roustabout Laborer, Toolpusher, Power Swivel Operator, and Cementer—at the proposed rates. However, nine classifications including Rig Operator, Derrick Hand, Floor Hand, Water Truck Operator, Mud Truck Operator, Pump Truck Operator, Bulk Truck Operator, Wireline Operator, and Wireline Rigger were not approved at their proposed rates and instead must be paid a conformed rate of $41.32 per hour plus $25.25 in fringe benefits. The Department also determined that Bulldozer Operator and Backhoe Operator work should be classified under existing wage determinations as Bulldozer and Backhoe respectively at $44.00 per hour plus $25.25 fringe benefits, and Electrician work should be paid at $36.52 per hour plus 41% plus $10.18 in fringe benefits. All conformed wage rates must be paid retroactively from the first day work is performed. The requestor must resubmit information regarding the Welder classification to clarify whether welding is performed 100% of the time or incidentally.
