About this file

This is an Addendum No. 1 to a Request for Bid issued by the City of Wichita, Kansas, Public Works & Utilities/Engineering Department for two tied construction projects: Water Distribution System to serve Bridger at Central Addition Phase 2 (North of Central Ave & East of 135th St W) and Sanitary Sewer Improvements to serve Bridger at Central Addition Phase 2. The bid number is 260228, with the water distribution system project numbered 448-2024-009673/47131726/E6192 and the sanitary sewer improvements project numbered 468-2024-009682/47278726/E6191. Bids were due on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. Vendors are required to acknowledge receipt of this addendum electronically through the City's Procurement Portal at wichita.gov/procurementportal and submit acknowledgment with their bid proposals.

The addendum modifies the project timeline by revising the working days on the project to 50 days. Additionally, the addendum addresses two bidder questions regarding specifications: Bid Item #27 permits the use of a 20-inch outside diameter (OD) casing pipe in place of the 20-inch inside diameter (ID) casing pipe specification to provide cost efficiency, and Bid Item #21 clarifies that the connection bid item for manhole connections is to remain as specified, noting that stubs may be removed and new pipe connected directly into the manhole. All changes and additions contained in this addendum are made a part of the original solicitation documents and must be acknowledged by vendors during bid submission.

RFB No. 260228

(September 11, 2026)

The following changes and additions shall be made to the plans and proposal.

1. Working Days. The working days on the project shall be revised to 50 (fifty) days.

2. Bidder Questions & Responses. The following questions were asked and the response has been included.

a. Question – Bid Item #27 – Can a 20” OD casing be used for this bid item? With .250” wall thickness, the ID would technically be 19.50”, but to achieve the 20” ID min requirement we would have to jump all the way to 24” casing. Seems cost prohibitive to pay for a much larger casing, more blow sand, bigger spacers, and end seals, etc for just the .50” difference.

Response – Bid Item # 27 – The 20” OD Casing pipe can be used in the place of the 20” ID Casing Pipe Bid Item.

b. Question – Bid Item #21 – This item is for connecting to a manhole, but it looks like all the connection points are tying onto stubs. Is this correct? Should the bid item be changed since we are not actually connecting to a manhole?

Response – Bid item # 21 – The connection bid item for connection into the Manholes is to remain. Sometimes the stub is removed and the new pipe connected directly into the manhole.

This Addendum is hereby made a part of the solicitation to the same extent as though contained in the original documents and all itemized listings thereof.

Acknowledge receipt of this Addendum electronically via City's Procurement Portal as a part of submission completion.
