About this file

This is a Form of Bid Bond template document from Marion County Board of County Commissioners located at 2631 SE 3rd Street, Ocala, FL 34471. The document serves as a standardized form for contractors to provide bid security when submitting proposals for county projects, requiring the contractor (Principal) and their surety company to be bound to the county (Obligee) for a specified dollar amount. The form includes blank fields for the contractor's information, surety company details, project bid number and title, bond amount, and signature lines for both the principal and surety representatives with witnesses.

The bid bond ensures that if the county accepts the contractor's bid, the contractor will enter into a contract and provide the required performance and payment bonds as specified in the bidding documents. If the contractor fails to fulfill these obligations, they must pay the county the difference between their bid amount and the higher amount the county may need to pay another contractor to complete the work, up to the penalty amount of the bond. The document also provides instructions for alternative cashier's check submissions, stating that payment from the top three ranked firms will remain in custody of Procurement Services until a contract is executed, with specific procedures outlined for bond return via courier services or standard mail delivery.
