Hello Everyone
These are the responses to the questions that were generated during the walk thru last week. Steve Skipp tried to answer them as best he could. But he wanted me to relay to you that the items on our spreadsheet were put together for budgetary purposes and for acquiring a government estimate. We can't ensure that all of the parts and items to do this job have been captured. We rely on you "the experts" to understand what needs to be done to accomplish our goal and base your bid accordingly. However, I know that there are some specifics that may affect your price and I will try to get as much information and the same information to all of you.
The proposal due date shall will be changed November 14, 2008 @ 2:00 PM. If you have anymore questions or want to walk through again, please contact me as soon as possible.
Thanks, Will (215-446-4760)
Questions for US Customs Perimeter Door Alarm Systems:
1. Discussions were brought up amongst contractors and GSA at the pre bid walkthrough about utilizing the existing cable and I fully understand that the solicitation states rewiring of all devices ( Will put me in charge of questions. LOL) but to clear things up, could the existing cable be used or at least the Radionics glass break system wiring seeing that system only several years old. THE GLASS BREAK SYSTEM IS WIRELESS, SO THAT WON'T BE OF ANY HELP. THE DOOR CONTACT WIRING MUST BE RE-DONE/RE-WIRED, DUE TO THE AGE AND LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN THE WIRING - IT IS PRETTY OLD, AT LEAST 15 OR MORE YEARS OLD.
2. Can you be more specific on the REX devices it say’s to replace all devices but there’s an “etc...” in there and in reference to the Excel Estimate Worksheet there are no device line items for push buttons or any other REX devices other than PIRs. THE CONTRACTORS WILL HAVE TO FIND ALL OF THE REX DEVICES AND REPLACE THEM. WE ARE TRYING TO STAY AWAY FROM THOSE DETAILS AND ALLOWING THE CONTRACTORS TO BID ACCORDINGLY. BUTTONS, FOR EXAMPLE, ARE VERY LOW PRICED ITEMS SO IT SHOULD NOT SWAY THE PRICE FAR FROM TARGET PRICE.
3. Is the Estimate Worksheet list “all” the devices to be replaced? THERE ARE SOME DEVICES, LIKE REX BUTTONS, WHICH ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE INDIVIDUAL LINE ITEM PRICING. I DO HAVE A 10% OOPS IN THERE, FOR ANY UNKNOWN ITEMS/MISC. THINGS THAT WERE OVERLOOKED.
4. Is the objective to shunt out the door contacts upon a valid read of the existing access control system for the integration or rewire the doors to the new 9412 panel? IF A CONTRACTOR WISHES TO REWIRE IT THE WAY IT IS, AND REPLACE ANY SHUNT TIMERS, ETC., THAT IS FINE. IF THEY WANT TO REWIRE BACK TO THE ACCESS SYSTEM AND THEN OUTPUT ALARMS IF RULES ARE BROKEN, THAT IS FINE TOO.
5. What is the make and model # of the Glass break sensors? RADIONICS/INNOVONICS WIRELESS - FORGET WHICH EXACT PART NUMBER, BUT THEY ONLY HAVE ONE.
6. What is the make and model # of the Wireless Receiver for the Glass Breaks? RADIONICS/INNOVONICS FA400 TO A RADIONICS D8125INV
7. How many Radionics wireless repeaters are on the system and what are the locations? THERE ARE 4 REPEATERS, NOT SURE WHERE THEY ARE ALL LOCATED
8. How many total Radionics Points or Zones are on both existing systems? DON'T KNOW, CAMERON CAN PULL ALARM REPORTS FOR BOTH SYSTEMS AND ADVISE.
9. The Estimate Worksheet has 2000ft of conduit, what locations or scope will it be utilized? JUST MY ESTIMATE, VERY BALLPARK, TO MAKE SURE WE WERE NOT TOO LOW ON PRICE. SOME BUILDINGS REQUIRE THIS KIND OF WIRING TO BE IN CONDUIT FROM START TO FINISH, SOME DO NOT. WE JUST WANT NEW WIRING AND AS A MINIMUM, IF EXPOSED, IT MUST BE IN CONDUIT.
10. Does warranty requirements require full parts and labor of support for 5 years if any device fails on the system? YES, COMPLETE, INCLUDING PARKING, LIFT TRUCKS, COFFEE, OR ANYTHING ELSE THEY WANT TO CHARGE FOR WHEN THEY COME FOR SERVICE....NO COST ON REPAIRS FOR 5 YEARS.
Thank You,
