61. 7-2-20 7-13-20 As a result of the effect of COVID-19 throughout the U.S., and the resulting Federal, State and local governments’ responses / requirements of safe distancing and potential advocations of working remotely and/or complete organization closures, please advise how the Government intends to address delays resulting there as it pertains to the current solicitation schedule for this and all future projects.
The COVID-19 pandemic is an act of god and the government cannot reimburse a contractor monetarily for a delay due a COVID-19 related causes, but we can give a no cost time extension to the period of performance. On this specific project we do not foresee any delays on the project and have added time to the period of performance to mitigate any potential delays. As well as the awarded contractor will be expected to comply with federal and local policies regarding COVID-19 to ensure that all employees are protected, and all work continues per the approved contract schedule. All contractors are required to daily go through our screening check point at the emergency department, be cleared, and then given the color sticker of the day. As well as it falls on the contractor to self asses their employees and sub-contractors before the day’s work begins. Additionally, the Wichita VAMC is requiring masks to be worn in the main facilities, but not inside of containment/construction sites. Lastly if an employee of the contractor or subcontractor has travelled to a state as referenced by the state of KS restricted travel zones then that person is required to been in mandatory quarantine for the 14 day period as indicated by best practices from the CDC. Currently those states include AL, AZ, AR, FL, SC, Cruise Ship travel, and any international travel.
