SECTION 11 16 00
LOADING DOCK EQUIPMENT
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE OF WORK
A. Work required under this Section includes the furnishing and installation of dock leveler, dock bumpers, light communication package, dock lights, seals around dock levelers, and dock door shelters as shown on the drawings and described in the specification.
B. Deviations, exclusions, electrical or hydraulic alterations and any equipment substitutions must be clearly identified in bidders’ proposal and supported with product collateral and layout drawings. Failure to do so will result in disqualification of bidder’s proposal.
1.02 SUBMITTALS
A. Shop Drawings
1. This Contractor shall prepare and submit complete shop drawing for approval prior to fabrication.
2. The drawings shall show all items as required or specified in order that a proper evaluation can be made of the materials and construction to be provided.
B. Brochures
1. Complete manufacturers brochures shall be submitted.
Brochures shall be marked up to indicate all products to be employed in the work in order that a proper evaluation can be made of the materials, methods, assemblies and construction to be provided.
1.03 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. All materials for the work of this Section shall be delivered, stored and handled so as to preclude damage of any nature.
Manufactured materials shall be delivered and noted in their original containers, plainly marked with the product’s and manufacturer’s name. Materials in broken containers or in packages showing watermarks or other evidence of damage shall not be used and shall be removed from the site.
1.04 RELATED WORK

In compliance with requirements established within Section 01300, submit detailed shop drawings for specified equipment.
1.06 WARRANTY
A. Warranty shall be in accordance with provisions of the General
Conditions except where additional requirements are specified here. All warranty periods commence with the date of substantial completion.
PART 2 – PRODUCTS
Specified herein is Poweramp Loading Dock Equipment, or approved equal.
Other acceptable manufacturer (s) as approved by the owner provided all specified features are included. Bidders should clearly indicate variations to specification on proposal.
A. Hydraulic Dock Levelers
1. Full hydraulic levelers shall be series “VH” manufactured by
Poweramp, or approved equal. Leveler shall be 6 feet wide by 8 feet long with minimum of 50,000 lb. live load capacity. Leveler shall be capable of supporting 3 wheel and 4 wheel lift trucks with a gross moving load not to exceed 21,250 lbs. and support 8 full trucks per day. Expected life of leveler shall exceed 10 years. Unit to include velocity safety stop and be in full compliance of OSHA requirements.
2. Pump and motor to be frame mounted.
3. Lip shall be 16” long.
4. Operation – Pushbutton, NEMA 4 “Industrial Grade” control panel to operate leveler. The fully hydraulic movement of the leveler ramp and lip is totally controlled electro-hydraulically from a pushbutton station.
5. Operating range shall be 12” above and 12” below dock to accommodate client’s variation of trucks. Leveler will freely float in the working range.
6. Leveler to be equipped with auto to return to dock function allowing leveler to automatically return to stored position after truck departs from above dock.
7. Leveler shall be equipped with a non adjustable velocity fuse to limit free fall of dock leveler to 3” which shall be integrated into the hydraulic cylinder
8. Lip Cylinder to be retractable after lip rests in truck
9. Ramp Shall have 4” of flex to accommodate uneven trucks
10. Lip shall extend beyond standard bumpers by a minimum of
12”.
11. Include full perimeter weatherseal.

12. Leveler to be equipped with “lockout tagout” maintenance prop.
13. Full operating range toe guards shall be painted and installed on each side of the leveler.
PART 3 – EXECUTION
INSTALLATION
LEVELERS
Set dock levelers as shown on the drawings. Installer should plumb, level and square levelers prior to securing leveler to steel edge angles. Install per manufactures recommendations. Demonstrate leveler operation to Owner’s representative and instruct Owner’s maintenance personnel regarding equipment maintenance.
BUMPERS
Securely fasten dock bumpers to foundation wall as detailed on the drawings.
