AMENDMENT A0002: SALISBURY NATIONAL CEMETERY (HISTORIC) | IFB SOLICITATION NO. 36C78624B0009 | PROJECT NO. 876-MM24-02 | BRIDGE AND HISTORIC REPAIRS.
QUESTION #1? Is the bridge weight rated? We are concerned about moving heavy equipment/vehicles.
ANSWER: We do not have this information.
QUESTION #2? Would you agree that once we peel away asphalt from the curbs, using a grader, we can’t guarantee any pre-existing conditions we cannot see beforehand?
ANSWER: This answer is covered by the relevant FAR clauses and the existing conditions section of the specifications.
QUESTION #3? When cleaning the concrete gutter pans to remove asphalt [C1501]to what level should we strive? Are we just freshening, or should we consider blasting, soda blasting or dustless blasting?
ANSWER: This is your means and methods to determine the best method.
QUESTION #4? Gathering estimates for the Ultra Flo Pipe Polymer Coated Steel for Reline is proving a bit difficult. Should you have any sources it would be greatly appreciated.
ANSWER: This is contractor’s responsibility.
QUESTION #5? In discussing preserving the historical look of our final product we wish to know what level of scrutiny will be placed on repair of replacement stonework and restoration? We reached out and found members of the North Carolina Historical Society and quickly realized, for example, using period informed skilled iron or masonry workers could be quite expensive.
ANSWER: See relevant specifications and drawings for this information.
QUESTION #6? We question the direction to “remove asphalt, stone and soil to a depth of 14.5” below finished grade” [Roadway Preparation & Removals Plan - Drawing CD001] We feel this might cause the curve in the road to collapse. Would you consider 7-inch dig at the head of the curve transitioning to a 4 inch intermediate area and finally flattening out to a 2-inch dig to finish off?
ANSWER: No, perform work per design documents.
