36C78619Q0351 Pacific District Tree Maintenance Questions and Answers

1. Contractor Question: Is the contractor required to provide pricing for all the Pacific District cemeteries or just the ones they were interested in.

Government’s Response: Offerors do not need to provide pricing for all Pacific District cemeteries. They may only provide pricing for those cemeteries where they are interested in providing tree maintenance services.

2. Contractor Question: We are needing clarification in the scope of work where it states that stumps and roots should be grinded down 18 inches below ground level and out all the way to the dripline. Would like to know if this includes both exposed surface roots and unexposed surface roots? Is it acceptable to go 18inches on exposed surface roots and 6 inches on the rest?

Governments Response:

The goal of root removal associated with stump grinding is two-fold:

· To make a burial space previously obstructed by the tree available as a new gravesite ready for burial without interference by tree roots; and

· To make the space ready for replanting of a 24” box replacement tree.

See Root Removal Diagram:

· Remove tree roots greater than 2” diameter to a depth of 18” within the outline of an obstructed gravesite, and within the area needed to plant a 24” box replacement tree.

· Remove exposed surface roots within adjacent gravesites to a depth of 6”.

· Do not remove unexposed roots within adjacent gravesites, or beyond the area needed to plant a 24” box replacement tree.

See attached document: Root Removal Diagram.
