About this file

This document is an Addendum #1 to the construction specifications and drawings for an elevator modernization project at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System in Des Moines, Iowa (Project #636A6-22-500), issued on April 21, 2026.

The addendum revises both architectural drawings and mechanical specifications for the elevator systems. Drawing revisions include updates to the cover sheet index and modifications to enlarged plans for Elevators A through E and Freight Elevator G, with revised keynotes FL7 and FL8 affecting multiple elevator hoistway plan sheets. Electrical drawing revisions (Sheets E411-E414) add keynotes 11 and 12 providing additional details, and Sheet E413 relocates elevator pit light switches and Emergency Power Off (EPO) devices to be adjacent to the ladder. Specification changes renumber Section 14 21 00 to Section 14 21 10 for Electric Traction Elevators and Section 14 24 00 to Section 14 24 10 for hydraulic elevators. Critical revisions mandate that pit ladders for all elevators (Items A.22, B.20, C.20 in the electric section and Items A.23, B.23, C.23, D.23 in the hydraulic section) be replaced with new ladders compliant to ASME A17.1 (2022) standards. All revised drawings and specifications become part of the contract documents, with bidders required to acknowledge receipt of this addendum upon submission of bids, signifying full acceptance of the modifications.
