3. 1/16/2024 Buildings with multiple telecom rooms appear to have OSP fiber runs that directly connect them to MCR located in Building 8, along with ISP fiber that connects them to the main telecom room for the building. This appears to be an additional layer of redundancy above what required typically in the market/industry, Please confirm requirement?

Provide fiber as shown on plans to meet VA standards.

4. 1/16/2024 ISP fiber runs have the following text “Provide associated fiber patch panels for the termination of all fiber strands plus 25% spare termination points”.

a. Is the quantity to be based off the combined strand count of the A&B networks, or should the quantity be based on the A&B networks individually?

b. This differs from the OSP Sparing note, will the same sparing of cassette be applicable as well?

Quantity shall be based per side. Provide 25% for A and 25% for B. Where additional inside plant fiber is called out between closets within a building, quantity shall also include spares for those fibers for both A and B sides. All fibers means all fibers.

5. 1/16/2024 Multiple buildings have an electrical specific note regarding the installation of Static Dissipative Vinyl Tile (SDT). Will the contractor be responsible for the isolators for the rack/cabinet if none are currently present?

Isolation pads will be required, and specification modified to add them for new and existing floor mounted racks in all TRs.

They will not be required in the Server Room.

50. 1/18/2024 It is not clear what size of conduit, or how many, need to run between the underground vaults shown on the civil drawings. Will this be up to the contractor to determine the number and size of conduits between vaults?

Conduit size of 4” is shown in the profiles on each sheet. One conduit is all that will be needed to serve the buildings.

51. 1/18/2024 On the drawings that are noted to have all existing telecom/data cabling replaced:

a. Can the existing raceways/pathways be re-used for new cable?

b. If so, can it be assumed that the existing pathways are of sufficient size to accept the new cabling?

c. If it will be the contractor's responsibility to replace any raceways that are too small, will access be granted before the bid date to allow for verification of raceway sizing?

a. As directed by the VA during design, the existing raceways/pathways are to be reused to feed existing outlet locations. Note that small diameter CAT 6A cable is specified for this reason. Most wire mold locations are noted to demo existing wire mold and install new sized for quantity of cables installed.

b. Small diameter cable specified will allow 3 CAT 6A cables to be installed in ¾” conduit. If ½” conduit is encountered VA will need to decide to reduce cable count to 2 cables or have contractor install new conduit.

c. The issue will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis as they are found. VA may use spares outlined in previous response to Item 11 above.
