01 00 00 - 8 date of starting work in each specific area of site, building or portion thereof. Arrange such dates to ensure accomplishment of this work in successive phases mutually agreeable to Medical Center Director, COR, and Contractor, as follows:
PHASE 1:
Phase 1B: Temporary Removal and Relocation of All Equipment and
Supplies
• Temporary relocation of equipment and supplies within the EMS and Med Gas areas to be determined by the Iowa city VA Health
Care System.
Phase 1B: Lead Abatement
• Install the first construction barriers as indicated on
Drawings.
• Refer to pages in Drawing set GC002 Construction Phasing and H-
110 Abatement Plan. Areas shaded in red have tested positive and will be abated.
PHASE 2:
Phase 2A.1: Medical Gas Manifold Temporary and Permanent
Locations
• First build new medical gas storage Room 131 CMU walls and install rated door.
• Install switchover manifolds in new Med Gas Storage Room 131 and existing Storage Room BS10.
• Temporary medical gas warning signs placed on Room 131 and
BS10 doors.
• Drill holes (& firecaulk) in existing rated CMU walls to extend med gas lines from existing med gas manifolds in room
BS10B to these rooms as required below for temporary locations. Protect piping as required by NFPA 99 5.10.11.2

01 00 00 - 9 from possible corrosion due to cinder walls and firestopping chemicals.
• Move carbon dioxide cylinders and nitrogen cylinders into Med
Gas Storage Room 131 and nitrous oxide cylinders into existing
Storage Room BS10 and connect to switchover manifolds. Keep empty cylinders segregated from full cylinders per NFPA 99.
• Setup temporary switchover manifolds to only draw from the new locations while cylinders and manifolds are being removed from existing med gas manifolds room BS10B.
• Temporarily relocate existing carbon dioxide and nitrogen manifolds into Room 131 and nitrous oxide manifold into existing Storage Room BS10 and connect to cylinders there.
Test for leaks, pressure, etc.
• Perform switch over of med gas services to the temporary manifolds and certify system for use. Temporary shutdown of medical gas services for the switchover will have to occur off hours/on a weekend and coordinated with COR at least 3 weeks prior to shut down. All shutdowns will need to be approved by
COR prior to work to avoid any disruption to Medical Center services.
• Contractor shall minimize shutdown time, but hot taps or similar valves are prohibited.
Phase 2A.2: Medical Gas Manifold Temporary and Permanent
Locations
• Expand and renovate existing Med Gas Manifold Room BS10B and renumber BS10.
• Existing nitrous oxide manifold to be replaced by new in kind in completely renovated room BS10. Install new N20 manifold first, then connect to cylinders, then remove temporary switchover manifold and piping in rooms BS10/BS10B. Fill in wall penetrations with grout to maintain 1 hour rating.
