1. 4-18-22 5-2-2022 Are their environmental hazards known to the government that need abated as part of this project?
If so, what are they?
As you are aware, this is an aging facility.
Constructed in the 1940’s. The facility had a comprehensive Asbestos study conducted in
2012. The intent would be if the contractor encounters potential environmental hazards such as Asbestos, lead etc. Contractor shall notify COR. COR will immediately have area(s) surveyed and if hazard material is found, VA will take care of abatement concerns. Also, all planed demolition must adhere to the local air board. Our jurisdiction is served by San Joaquin Valley Air
Pollution Control District. (BDM)
See Asbestos Attachments in Amendment 0002 for Bldg 1.
2. 4-18-22 5-2-2022 Please provide the project specific Environmental

4. 4-18-22 5-2-2022 Please confirm the times HVAC/Electrical change overs and outages can occur?
Most HVAC (Mechanical) outages occur based on either the cooling demand or heating demand of the spaces being impacted.
Temporary HVAC outages in the summer are normally conducted during the early morning hours (i.e., 0001-0600). Planned Electrical outages should be accompanied with temporary generators/transformers and are preferred on the weekends. (BDM)
5. 4-18-22 5-2-2022 Please confirm work hours 0600 – 1700 (BDM)
6. 4-18-22 5-2-2022 Will a reasonable contractor lay down yard be provided?
Lay down area space is very limited here at the facility. However, every effort will be made to provide reasonable Lay Down for this project. Winning contractor should immediately start Laydown Yard conversation with VA’s COR & CO. (BDM)
7. 4-18-22 5-2-2022 Please confirm the VA will provide the contractor a reasonable number of keys such that the contractor and their crews can access the work site

8. 4-18-22 5-2-2022 Where will the contractor’s lay down yard be located?
Actual Laydown Yard is TBD. However, the likely area will be at Parking Lot “C.”
Currently we have several Contractors from various project utilizing some of Parking Lot
“C.” Winning Contractor should have some idea as to required square footage and VA can coordinate from that point moving forward.
(BDM)
9. 4-18-22 5-2-2022 Please confirm the contractor will be provided parking on-site
Parking is at a premium. However, the winning Contractor will have access to On-site Parking in their Laydown Area. (BDM)
10. 4-19-22 5-2-2022 Does the VA have an Environmental Survey for lead paint and asbestos, from the rooms for AHU 9
& 10?
Particularly for lead in the paint since the plans are calling for epoxy on walls and ceilings.
The existing paint will need to be disturbed /scuffed for epoxy paint adhesion
Survey was conducted in 2012. Please see amendment 002 Bldg 1 attachments. Please refer to Question/Item No.1 above.
Potential “Hot” area shall be surveyed prior to the commencement of demo/disturbances, SJVAPCD, San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution

11. 4-20-22 5-2-2022 Plan page 32-M-131.1 shows an Existing rental chiller, existing flex ducts, existing temporary air handler, temporary chiller and temporary water hoses.
Keynote 9 shows existing ductwork.
None of the existing conditions noted on the plans is currently in place.
Is this equipment to be installed by others prior to this contract?
Does this contract start at Keynote 3 on plan page
32-M-131.1?
Yes, all the existing equipment etc. will be on station prior to the commencement of the winning contractor’s work.
Yes, Keynote #3 signifies the point of connection to the (2) existing 24x48 duct.
Again, the VA is working on several projects concurrently and the existing duct will be a relic from our Sub-basement AHU replacement.
