About this file
This document is a comprehensive technical specification for replacing Chiller #4 at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System's Energy Center. The project involves replacing the existing 1,100-ton York chiller with a new chiller, associated control components, and related infrastructure modifications. Key work includes demolishing and removing the existing chiller, installing a new chiller, replacing associated pumps and water filter, and updating control systems to integrate with the existing Engineering Control Center (ECC).
Specific tasks include removing existing equipment, installing a new chilled water pump (69-P18), replacing the water pump (69-P17), installing a new chemical water filter, and creating emergency chiller connection points on primary and condenser water lines. The project also requires installing a 1600A quick disconnect panel for temporary chiller connections. The controls work will be performed by Johnson Controls Inc., involving modifications to the existing control system, adding a new JCI DX-9100 controller, and integrating new control components with the existing Building Automation System. The project is part of VA Project Number 618-25-202 and is scheduled for completion in May 2025.
