Question
Answer
1.
Site Visit
Please provide a pole light base detail.
See Attached Sketch
2.
Is it known where the pole light is fed from and if it feeds other pole lights as we will have to pull new wire to not have any splice points?
Site documents indicate that it is at the end of the run and is fed from a handhole located to the east of the building.
3.
Where is the main BMS panel located that is referenced on sheet E1, Note 2? There were 2 Johnson Control panels in the chiller plant room 208 and 2 Johnson Control panels located in the lower level.
Consult Resident Engineer or COR to schedule coordination of destination with controls contractor.
4.
Note 3 on E1 says provide a weatherproof box with-in the existing man-hole but the drawings do not reference any work in the manhole. Not sure what the box is being added for.
Design intent is to replace existing damaged box located in manhole.
5.
Note 6 on E1 says provide a 1” conduit for power and a 1” conduit for controls. Where does the control conduit need to go once inside the building?
Consult Resident Engineer or COR to schedule coordination of destination with controls contractor.
6.
Sheet M1 show the refrigerant piping entering the building where there is currently chemical feed piping equipment and an Emergency eye wash.
· Are these going to be relocated by the government?
· Do we figure moving them?
· Where are they to be relocated to?
Design intent as shown on the drawings is for the refrigerant piping to enter the building above this equipment and drop down the outside wall to the chiller (see sheet M1).
· No
· No
· They are not going to be relocated.
7.
Currently at the location where the EVP is shown to be hung from the structure there are two lights. One for sure and possibly both will be in the way and will need to be relocated. This is not shown on the electrical plans. Will the lights be relocated as part of this project?
Relocate as necessary to allow installation.
8.
Is the chilled water system drained during the winter months? When does that usually take place?
No, hot taps are required.
9.
If the projects performance period is 180 days and the chilled water system is drained during the winter months, can the chilled water tie ins as shown per detail 1 on sheet M2 be provided after the system is drained in lieu of a Hot Taps?
No, hot taps are required.
10.
The location shown on sheet M1 for the CWS tie in, currently has two temperature control sensors mounted on the top of the pipe. With limited amount of space above the pipe, the tie in will be on the side of the pipe.
· Will this affect the sensors?
· Will the sensors need to be relocated? If so where?
· It should not affect the sensors.
· No, the sensors do not need to be relocated.
11.
The man hole is in the path of the outside pad footing.
· Should the footing be boxed around the manhole and left at its current elevation?
· Should the manhole be extended to the pad surface and boxed around at the new elevation?
Extend to match concrete elevation.
12.
Please advise where the gate is to be located as there is conflicting information between sheets SP1 and M1.
Please follow SP-1.
13.
Detail 6/M2 shows the “ENCLOSURE PAD EDGE SECTION” to have a concrete grade beam continuous around the enclosure. Looking at the site it looks like we will need an actual footing and poured wall that is formed so we can back fill inside the area up to the required elevation. Please clarify the height/depth and width.
Section 6/M2 is applicable to the enclosure pad outside the limits of the chiller pad footing. The exterior face of the turn down grade beam will need to be formed at some areas based on site grading. The concrete grade beam should be a minimum of 8 inches wide and 24 inches deep below adjacent grade. The grade beam concrete may be placed separately from the slab concrete to allow for back fill to be placed inside the area. The #4 bent bar should extend across the construction joint.
14.
Detail 3/M2 calls out a 16” x 48” TRENCH FOOTINGS on all sides of the pad. Does this dimension apply to detail 6/M2? Also, with this size of continuous footing is the SCREEN WALL able to be plated and epoxy anchored to the concrete surface; centered above the 16” x 48” TRENCH FOOTING? This method would replace the detail 1/SP-1.
No, Detail 3 on M2 only applies to the chiller pad directly under the chiller. Screen wall supports to be installed per detail 1 on sheet SP-1.
