About this file
This document is a Legionella water testing report for the VA Central California Healthcare System (VA Central California HCS) conducted on May 21-22, 2025. The detailed report includes water sample testing from multiple buildings, floors, and sources such as sinks, showers, and ice machines, categorized by hot, cold, and mixed water types.
The testing results reveal several instances of Legionella detection across different locations. Notable findings include Legionella non-pneumophila species detected at various concentrations (ranging from 0.4 to 26.0 CFU/mL) in multiple rooms, and some Legionella pneumophila serogroup 2-14 detections in hot and mixed water sources. The samples were processed in accordance with ISO 11731:2017 standards and the CDC's procedures for Legionella recovery, with a minimum detection limit of 0.4 CFU/mL. A flow chart for interpreting routine quarterly environmental water testing is included, following VHA Directive 1061 guidelines for preventing healthcare-associated Legionella disease.
