Answers to Questions 1 and 3

660-15-108 Chilled Water & HVAC Upgrade B.14

Question 1. Can the chilled water piping be pro pressed?

The VA hydronic piping specification (23 21 13) version 08-01-017, which is part of the project does not have option to use pro press piping/fittings.

The latest VA hydronic specification (23 21 13) version 02-01-20 also does not have option to use pro press piping/fittings.

So, for mechanical piping VA does not provide option for using pro press piping/fittings.

The latest VA plumbing water piping specs (22 11 00) version 05-01-21 also does not have option for using pro press fitting. Please see attached change summary.

So, per latest editions of VA specifications, for both mechanical and plumbing piping VA does not provide option to use pro press fittings.

Question 3. Where we bring in the chilled water piping into Mech RM BB505 there is not a lot of options for pie routing. Would it be ok to run the new pipes below the existing or see if we could find a less congested route to run them?

There is no work in room BB05, it is a loading dock. The main 8” chilled water pipes are already in the Mechanical room BC04 where the work is to be done. The chilled water for the project will be taped from these existing 8” pipes. The glycol loop will be routed to the roof as shown on the drawings. Please refer drawing MP-100 for the equipment installation and pipe routing in the mechanical room. There is demolition work in the mechanical room BC04, please refer to drawing MD-100. These drawings are base case.
