RFI #1

660-15-108 Chilled Water & HVAC Upgrade B.14

1. Can the chilled water piping be pro pressed?

a. Pending a response from the AE.

2. Will it be required to have confined space permits for the extrastitial space in the basement? If so, what are the requirements?

a. Yes, Confined space is required.

3. Where we bring in the chilled water piping into Mech RM BB505 there is not a lot of options for pie routing. Would it be ok to run the new pipes below the existing or see if we could find a less congested route to run them?

a. Pending a response from the AE.

4. Will there be after hours and weekend work required? If so, what portions should we plan for after hour/weekend work?

a. Yes, when working in clinical areas like the 3rd floor (the OR) or any other patient care area. Contractor will be expected to work after hours. Additionally, see sheet notes AE100,104 Note F.

5. Is the VA going to drain the glycol system and if so, who is responsible for replacing the glycol?

a. VA will assist with draining the glycol system; however, contractor is responsible for replacing the glycol in the system.

6. What type of roofing membrane is on the roof?

a. 80 Mil IB roof system, see attached warranty.

7. Will the court yard be open during construction? If so, will fencing be required around the scaffolding and work area?

a. Yes, courtyard will remain open. Contractor will be required to fence the scaffolding.

8. Can we penetrate through the roof above the extastritial space and core through the side of the parapet wall to get the chilled water lines on the roof? This would make it so there would be no interruption inside of the hospital.

a. Means and methods should match drawings, going through the parapet would have the elbow exposed to the outside and a penetration would need to be made through the glass. The solution proposed, does not match the drawings.

9. Is a self-performed worksheet required with the bid?

a. Yes.
