635-22-148 Correct Research Ventilation System
1. SOW states that the contractor must verify each location has one fan operational at one time on both the North and South EFU’s and at no time can both EFU’s on either side North or South can be un-operational. It also states that OKCMAMC will limit the time an EFU can be un-operational to a maximum of 72 hours down time for the facility. During the site visit is was discovered that both EFU’s on the North side are not operational, therefore we can change both of those fans as phase 1.
Since the 2 EFUs at the northside of the building, are no longer work and I have been consulted with VA research department, they have confirmed that all 4 EFUs can be replaced at the same time.
2. Will the facility allow for both South EFU’s to be taken offline at the same time if the North EFU’s have first been replaced and are fully operational?
See answer 1 above.
3. If both South EFU’s cannot be replaced at the same time, then will the facility allow shutdown of both EFU’s with up to the 72 hours to remove the existing dampers and install the new fan?
See answer 1 above.
4. Is the roof still made from the same material as shown in the original roof framing plans, or has the roof structure been modified or replaced?
The roof structure has not been modified or replaced but the build-up roof has been replaced.
5. Existing plans scheduled EF-2A and EF-2B with 10 HP fans, 17,930 CFM at 0.83” total static pressure. The Greenheck specs for the new fans have only one selection criteria with 15,753 CFM and 3.45” total static pressure. Please confirm that new fan selection criteria will change from the existing plans by making all 4 fans with the same performance and same motor size.
Confirm, the new fans 15,753 CFM at 3.45” total static pressure.
6. I noticed on the above solicitation you have designated the NAICS code of 237310 with a business size standard of $39.5M. I was wondering if this should be the NAICS code of 238220?
The correct NAICS for this project is 238220 Plumbing, Heating and A/C Control with a size standard of $39.5M
7. Please clarify - Integration of controls for new exhaust fans with the existing system.
Integration of control for new exhaust fans with the Johnson Control existing system.
8. Phasing – The north exhaust fans are currently not operational and can be removed at the same time. Once the north roof phase is complete and operational, can both south exhaust fans be removed/replaced at the same time?
See answer 1 above.
9. What sort of biomed/hazmat precautions/procedures need to be followed during construction?
There is no biohazard that have use in these exhaust systems in the past 5-year, wear glove and mask during demolition.
10. Regarding Specification 01 00 00 paragraph 1.2 General Intention, part A states “Contractor shall completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for 7-Replacements of specified ATS’s as required by drawings and specifications.” This description doesn’t seem to match the scope of work as part of the solicitation, can parts A, B, and C be confirmed or updated?
Update Specification 01 00 00, paragraph 1.2 A. Contractor shall completely prepare site including demolition of 4 Exiting exhaust fan units (EFU) and accessories and replace with 4 new exhaust fan units as stated in scope of work and specifications.
11. Regarding Specification 01 00 00 paragraph 1.3 Statement of bid items, part A and B do not appear to match the scope of work as part of the solicitation, can this be confirmed or updated?
Deleted specification 01 00 00, paragraph 1.3 STATEMENT OF BID ITEM(S). Bid shall be as stated in SOW.
12. Regarding Specification 01 00 00 paragraph 1.5 Construction Security Requirements Part A, B and C. Please confirm the projects intent is to require a security plan and unarmed guards per parts A. B, and C as stated in this specification A. Security Plan is not required.
B. Contractor employee shall apply for badge to work in VA facility, coordinate with COR. COR will provide application form for badge.
C. Unarmed guards are not required.
13. Regarding Specification 01 35 26 Safety Requirements paragraph1.13 Tuberculosis screening. This paragraph illustrates the requirement for tuberculosis testing and the fact it needs to be completed 90 days prior to the employee being allowed onsite. With the short duration of this project could this requirement be confirmed and updated if needed?
Tuberculosis screening is not required.
14. 01 91 00 paragraph 1.7-part A states the systems to be commissioned included Electrical, Communication, and Electronic Safety and Security. This information does not appear to match the scope of work as part of the solicitation, can this be confirmed or updated?
Electrical, Electrical Safety, and electrical safety commission are not required.
