The purpose of this amendment is to provide the answers to questions received, provide the site visit sign in sheet and provide pictures to the basement mechanical room.
All other terms and conditions remain the same.
1. So that each contractor is bidding apples to apples, is there a complete list identifying how many penetrations per room are required to be fire stopped? For example, work item #1, Basement Mechanical Rm says, “multiple locations in ceiling…”. How many is multiple?
Answer: 260 penetrations
2. Specification section 07 84 00, paragraph 1.6B Firestopping requires a FM or UL certified firestopping installer. There do not appear to be any FM or UL certified companies on the western slope and very limited choices in Denver or SLC. Confirm if this certification will be required or if past installation experience will be acceptable. The expenses associated with bringing a certified installer from outside the area appear cost prohibitive especially as the scope of work is completely undefined.
Answer: Certified installer is required.
3. Specification section 07 84 00, paragraph 1.6C Firestopping requires a Certified Inspector. Confirm inspection by a certified individual will be required. We are also having issues locating a certified firestopping inspector on the west slope. If a certified inspector is required, can one be brought in to inspect the sealed penetrations at the end of the work?
Answer: End of work inspection is acceptable – but may take several days, since some of the work is in patient rooms, and these can only be inspected when patients are not in the rooms and this must be scheduled with Acute Care.
4. From Fed Biz Ops, 361C25919R0091 SO2-Attachment A – is this work to be completed in addition to the list on plan page AS001 – if so, no quantities of each penetration are provided – clarify scope for bidding purposes Answer: See response to Item 1
5. When was this list of bid activities developed? In one or two of the rooms visited during the walk through we were unable to identify any locations that appeared to need firestopping. Is it possible these penetrations have been fire stopped since the list was generated?
Answer: It is possible. However, bid this work.
6. The fire sprinkler scope is to replace quick response heads with standard heads. In places where there are already standard heads existing, they may be an older style head and the new standard heads won’t match existing. Confirm it is acceptable to just replace the quick response with new or are all the heads to be replaced so they are similar?
Answer: No fire sprinkler work will be done under this contract. Items 22, 25, 30, 34, 36, 39, 42, 60, and 79 are deleted from the plans.
7. Confirm if Corridor 3000 sprinkler work is included in this scope of work or will already be completed under the 3rd floor renovation project. If the work is to be included in this contract, please confirm quantity of quick response heads to be replaced. We were unable to access this area during the walk through.
Answer: See answer to item 6
8. Verify the extents of Corridor 2709 or quantify then number of sprinkler heads to be replaced in this area – we were unable to ascertain during the walk through exactly where this corridor started/ended?
Answer: See answer to item 6
9. 3 of the hatches called out in Item 106 Penthouse are tack welded closed. The detail to firestop these hatches shows work underneath. Do you want the tack welds broken out, so the underside of these hatches can be accessed? If the welds are to be broken, how are the hatches to be sealed once the firestopping work is completed?
Answer: Work can be done from above or below, but when complete, the space will be fire rated. If the tack welds are broken out, they will be tack welded shut again after inspection.
10. Some areas of the building where the scope is proposed has sprinkler coverage that appears to be lacking. Will new sprinklers be required in areas lacking proper coverage to bring them up to code or just replace the heads as scope shows?
Answer: See answer to item 6
