Question & Answer (Q&A) for RFQ 36C25622Q0263 0002 – Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) Questions Answers Section 5.3, 5.11 and 13.2 of the subject RFQ note the need for INCINERATION of the Chemotherapy (CD) and Pathological Waste (PW) associated with this contract. The solicitation also notes that the CD & PW shall be treated and disposed of "in accordance with the approved treatment method enforced by federal, state, and local regulations listed in Section 1.1.1 Regulations Requirements. “ The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) DOES NOT require the incineration of either CD or PW. With the inclusion of the “(incinerated)” requirement, the Government is being overly restrictive, and in effect doing nothing more than drastically driving up the cost for the handling of these two waste streams. Clause 5.3 could remain in place with the simple deletion of “(incinerated)”. Would the Houston VAMC please remove the need for incineration from this RFQ as it is unnecessary and not a TCEQ requirement?
