About this file
This document is an Amendment (A0003) to a Department of Veterans Affairs solicitation for installing patient lifts at multiple locations at Edward Hines Jr. VAMC. The project involves installing 61 patient lifts across various buildings and floors, with specific requirements for lift types including both standard (550 lbs capacity) and bariatric (750-1000 lbs capacity) models. The solicitation includes detailed electrical and architectural specifications, with lifts to be installed in rooms across Buildings 1, 12, 113, 128, 200, 217, and 228.
Key project details include a proposal due date of April 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. CST, with work to be completed building by building. The amendment incorporates responses to 36 contractor questions covering technical details such as panel schedules, lift manufacturer specifications, ceiling modifications, and installation requirements. The VA allows alternative lift manufacturers if they meet or exceed the preferred Handi-Care specifications. Contractors must follow specific phasing requirements, with each building to be completed entirely before starting the next, and work limited to a specified number of rooms simultaneously.
