PLEASE FIND ATTACHED FIRST SET OF RFI RESPONSES

FIRST SET OF RESPONSES TO RFIs

1. Is there an asbestos sampling report for B402?

According to the 2015 information that we have, the crawl space in B402 is ACM free.

1. There is a spec for abatement, and nothing called out on the drawings.

Correct – these spec sections were added in because there may be some hidden or unforeseen items.

Thus in the SOW - IV. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. The VA does not anticipate lead or asbestos abatement in the project. However, the contractor shall be cautious and investigate potential asbestos containing materials that may be hidden within walls. Report potential ACM to the COR for further action. Provide a cost line for asbestos abatement in your bid for an amount not to exceed $35,000 in the event asbestos abatement is required. If this amount is not required, the unused portion will be deducted from the contract.

1. Will B402 3rd floor be occupied during the construction project?

We will have a decision from leadership by the end of this month – information forthcoming.

1. During construction can a window on each floor be removed to bring in new materials and remove demoed material?

Yes, if the window is in the construction area.

However, any damage to the windows, frames, building, etc. – must be repaired at contractors’ own expense.
