Acquisition Plan Action ID: 36C252-19-AP-2498
1. Contracting Activity:

Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 12
This procurement will be for the Milwaukee VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI.
Project 695-19-102, 695-19-2-6985-0043
2. Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated
Amount:
This product, Microguard Inorganic Protective Barrier, is the only product that is allowed per
VA Central Office guidelines as a sealant for ceramic tile grout (floor and wall). The protective barrier this product creates allows for the tile surfaces in toilet rooms, showers, kitchens, etc. to be effectively sealed which prevents dirt accumulation on the grout.
Appropriately applied the product reduces the possibility of infection and assists with infection control throughout the VA Medical Center.
Estimated amount on this project is $8,000.
3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used:
Need to comply with VACO directives, impacts to patient safety and familiarity of the product to the staff and maintenance personnel. This product decreases the chances of infection control issues due to accumulation of debris in the grout of tile floors and walls.
This is the way to ensure compliance with VACO directives and maintain a clean environment in toilet rooms and other tiles areas on the Milwaukee campus.
