About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) Responses document for VA contract 553-21-100, containing ten questions and answers addressing clarifications on construction and equipment installation requirements.
The RFI addresses bid submission requirements, specifying a 120-day acceptance period for bids on the SF-1442 form. For specialized systems, SwissLog is designated as the VA's sole source vendor for pneumatic tube systems, with recommendation that contractors subcontract all related work to this vendor. Regarding patient ceiling lifts, mounting specifications are referenced to structural drawings, and door headers will not be notched for continuous track movement. Two air handling units are addressed: AHU-2081 is an existing unit to be replaced, while AHU-2082 is new construction. Door 2053.2 on the Door and Frames schedule (Drawing A601) is corrected from type CC to type CCD. For VA-supplied, contractor-installed equipment, most standard healthcare items require only wall mounting, with the Bio Safety Cabinet and Laminar Flow units as exceptions requiring specialized installation by vendors rather than general contractors. The approximate floor-to-ceiling height on the second floor is 11 feet, with actual dimensions to be verified in the field. Parking is available at the Blue Parking Structure with costs borne by contractors and employees through purchase of parking passes from the VA Medical Center. The VA Notice of Limitations on Subcontracting – Certificate of Compliance for Service and Construction (VAAR 852.219-75, January 2023 Deviation) is located on page 58 of the solicitation for contractor completion.
