36C25021B0056
IFB AMENDMENT NUMBER 00004
1. QUESTION – On Print A1-01 in the general notes #1: it indicates to salvage and return items to owner, is the Wier Mesh in the walls that are being demoed one of those items to be considered?
Response: No, the wire mesh in the temporary gate/walls do not need to be salvaged for return to the VA. The Contractor can dispose or salvage the wire mesh.
2. QUESTION – On print A3-02 Room finish legend-schedule notes Note #2 Indicates to paint interior window frames , Please confirm.
Response: The window frames are NOT to be painted. They are a bronze enameled metal and should not be painted.
3. QUESTION – Is this project taxable.
Response: Please review the entire solicitation.
4. QUESTION - Can the Sherwin Williams ESD System attached be used as substitute. Also, the spec, for this calls for a mortar overlay in the title, but nothing in the body of the spec would indicate installing mortar before the ESD system. Please confirm and/or clarify.
Response: In the Schedule of Finishes, 09 06 00, there are specified “Basis of Design” manufacturers for certain finishes. This includes paint (Sherwin Williams) and ERF (Epoxy Resinous Flooring). Use these products’ salient characteristics for a basis of design. Submit “or equal” product specifications to be approved by the VA.
5. QUESTION – See spec section 014500 Quality Control. Can the GC job superintendent also act as the CQC Manager? Or does there need to be a separate individual on site at all times to fill the CQC Manager role?
Response: The GC job superintendent can also act as the CQC Manager if qualified to do so. The qualified person will meet all requirements contained in the Quality Control Specs 01 45 00.
6. QUESTION – See spec Section 078400 Firestop , 1.5 Quality Assurance. This spec requires firestop installation to be completed by an approved FM Global installer. Please confirm this is a requirement under the contract
Response: A firm needs to be approved by FM Global 4991 or comply with UL’s “Qualified Firestop Contractor Program Requirements” to install firestopping products. This is a standard in the VA specs on the TIL
7. QUESTION – See spec Section 078400 Firestop, 3.5 Inspections Acceptance of Work requires firestop inspection by an approved inspector. Please confirm this is a requirement as part of this project.
Response: A firm needs to be approved by FM Global 4991 or comply with UL’s “Qualified Firestop Contractor Program Requirements” to install firestopping products. This is a standard in the VA specs on the TIL
8. QUESTION – See spec Section 040513 Masonry Mortar, 3.4 Field Tests. The mentioned spec section refers to 014529 Testing spec section for field testing. This spec section was not included in the provided specification. Please verify if mortar field testing is required. If so, please provide testing specification.
Response: Spec 014529 (Testing Laboratory Services) was removed at 65% DD since there was little-to-no scope. For 040513 Masonry Mortar testing, since the CMU walls are not load-bearing they are not required to be tested; however, the VA would still want the contractor to test the mortar and grout. The requirements are in part 1.3 of each spec (Applicable Publications)… for Mortar it is ASTM C780-15 and for Grout is ASTM C1019-14.
9. QUESTION – See Demolition Note D07, Sheet A1-01. It is unclear what demo note D07 is referencing or what the intent is. Please provide clarification on Demo Not D07.
| Response: D07: OWNER TO REMOVE SELECT, EXISTING ELECTRICAL | WIRING AND POWER CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE AND VERIFY | SCOPE OF OWNER REMOVAL. | |||
| Note D07 is to be removed from documents. See sheet A1-01 addendum (included in | this amendment). Refer to Electrical sheet E3-01 Electrical Demolition (included in | this amendment) Notes: B.
