RFI NO.: #24 DATE: 1/10/18

SPEC/DWG. REFERENCE(s): 02 41 00 Demolition

REPLY NEEDED BY: 1/22/18

INFORMATION NEEDED:

Per the revised specification 02 41 00 Demolition with Amendment #1, a new spec addressing Lead Paint has been added to the Demolition spec. This brings up several questions:

1. Will the referenced Lead Paint spec be provided (02 83 33.13 Lead Based Paint Removal & Disposal)?

2. Is there any Lead Based Paint in any of the buildings or corridors?

3. If there is Lead Based Paint in the buildings & corridors, have surveys been conducted?

4. If surveys have been conducted, will those surveys be provided?

5. If there is Lead Based Paint in the buildings, will abatement of the Lead Based Paint be required prior to demolition?

REPLY: Response per numbered question above.

1. No. Delete the reference to 02 83 33.13. There will be no Lead Based Paint removal.

2. Yes and no. Based on the age of the buildings it’s a reasonable assumption there is lead based paint in the buildings. The connecting corridors do not contain lead based paint.

3. No.

4. N/A.

5. No. The State classifies lead contaminated debris as normal construction debris. It can go to a C&D Landfill. You cannot recycle the materials or intentionally burn the waste stream.
