RFI NO.: #23 DATE: 1/10/18
SPEC/DWG. REFERENCE(s): Keynote 4 Sheet AD-
REPLY NEEDED BY: 1/22/18
INFORMATION NEEDED: Per Keynote 4 on Sheet AD-100 Bldgs 11, 18, 24, & 60 are noted to be demolished & disposed of as Regulated Waste. Per the answer to Pre-Bid RFI #22 in Amendment #2 and the revised answer in Amendment #4, Bldgs 11, 18, 24, & 60 are to be thoroughly wetted & visually inspected for asbestos containing debris prior to sending materials to either a landfill as Regulated Asbestos Containing Material or a recycling facility.
Per the answers to the Site Visit Agenda & Pre-Bid RFI #14 in Amendment #1, Bldgs 11, 18, 24, & 60 are to be considered Hazardous Waste. In reviewing the bidding documents & Amendments furnished to date, it appears that the reference to Hazardous Waste is in error. I have reviewed 40 CFR 261, Identification & Listing of Hazardous Waste, and Asbestos is not considered to be a Hazardous Waste.
Based on 40 CFR 261, the Bidding Documents, and answer to Pre-Bid RFI #22 in Amendments 2 & 4 it appears that the intent of the documents is to have Bldgs 11, 18, 24, & 60 demolished without any prior abatement and that any asbestos containing debris be segregated out & sent to a landfill for disposal as Regulated Asbestos Containing Material and all remaining material sent to a recycling facility. Is this correct?
REPLY:
Yes, that is correct.
