About this file

This request for information pertains to renovating VAV controls at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tennessee. The project involves replacing existing pneumatic thermostats throughout buildings 200 with modern VAV room sensors that are generally 2 inches wide and intended to mount in 2x4 boxes or wall rings. This will result in gaps in the paint around the new sensors. The government has confirmed it will accept stainless steel plates mounted on the walls to cover previous pneumatic thermostat mounting locations in lieu of patching and repainting the walls. Responses to the RFI were due by July 20, 2022.

The existing pneumatic thermostats are approximately 2.5" wide. Regardless of brand, a modern new VAV room sensors are generally 2" wide and intended to mount in a 2x4 box or wall ring. This will leave, at least, a break in the paint around the sensor. Would the Government accept a SS plate mounted on the wall to cover the difference inlue of patch and paint?
