About this file

This document contains specifications for panelboards to be installed as part of an electrical system upgrade project at a Department of Veterans Affairs medical facility. Key requirements include furnishing and installing NEMA 3R rated galvanized steel panelboards with main lugs or breakers, copper bus bars, and bolt-on molded case circuit breakers. Panelboards must meet UL standards and have minimum short circuit ratings of 10,000 or 14,000 amps depending on voltage. Additional specifications cover enclosure and trim types, neutral and grounding buses, and accessory devices such as surge protective devices and ground fault breakers. The contractor must submit shop drawings, manuals, and certifications, and perform testing, inspection and demonstration of proper operation upon completion of the installation work.
