About this file
This document contains responses to requests for information (RFIs) regarding a solicitation to renovate and abate flooring in three buildings on the Bay Pines VA medical campus. The solicitation seeks a firm-fixed price contract to remove and dispose of existing flooring materials containing asbestos, prepare surfaces, and install new flooring and vinyl cove base in specific areas of three buildings. The work must be completed within 180 calendar days of notice to proceed. The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 8 is the contracting agency. Key details provided in the RFI responses include confirmation that a superintendent may double as the qualified supervisor and site safety and health officer, identification of designated areas for contractor parking and storage, and clarification that evening and weekend work will be allowed with proper coordination and approval. Phased work plans must be coordinated with the contracting officer's representative.
The document also addresses questions about furniture and equipment removal and storage, availability of existing facilities like restrooms and water for showers, and clarifies responsibilities for removal of electrical and computer components. Specific flooring product information, quantities of furniture, and areas where abatement is required are provided through references to attached drawings and plans. Procedures for handling multiple flooring layers and repairing walls are also outlined.

Answer: Yes, once an area or phase is released to the contractor.
Commented [MCA4]: COR to attach finish schedule template when returning RFIs to Contracting.
Q27. Can this be done in fewer than 10 phases or are we being held to 10 phases, and will the VA provide us with a phasing schedule/map as to be the most efficient for their work staff because they know what areas are necessary to work in conjunction with other areas.
