RFIs response, rifled type tunes are not allowed but the Basis of Design CBEX boiler does include the “rifled type spiral finned tube”. So, is the VA saying that at this late date they won’t accept the CBEX-Elite boiler from Cleaver-Brooks?

Spiral tubes are acceptable based on space limitations on the new boiler footprints. The A/E has confirmed that the tubes are spiral (acceptable), and they are not finned(unacceptable). Attached is the tube design for the CBEX boilers.

Change spec 235239.2.1.F.2 to read:

2. Tubes: Extended surface spiral heat transfer tubes are allowed. Tubes shall not include turbulators, swirlers, or other add-on appurtenances.

The NGas supply pressure is to the boiler?

5 to 7 PSIG to the boiler.

Fuel oil delivery, how is that accomplished?

PUMPED FROM #2 FUEL OIL 30,000 GAL TANK OUT SIDE IN THE GROUND, TO A DAY TANK WITH SUPLY PUMP TO THE BOILERS, AND RETURN PUMPS BACK TO THE MAIN TANK .

Do you have a “pressurized loop” for fuel oil being delivered to the boilers? YES PRESSURE REGULATED FROM 65 PSIG INLET TO PUMP REDUCED TO 45 PSIG AT THE BOILER THEN REGULATED TO 15PSIG THROUGH THE NOZZLE. At what pressure? 65 PSIG F/O PUMP SUPPLY TO BOILER, UNUSED FUEL PUMPED BACK TO DAY TANK.

If higher than 100 psig can the facility adjust any sort of back-pressure regulating ( INSTALLED IN OUR SYSTEM , ON OUR FUEL OIL SUPPLY SYSTEM) valves to “limit” delivery pressure to the boilers to UNDER 100 psig? YES

The boilers do NOT have their own fuel oil [metering] pumps, correct? CORRECT NO PUMP, ( THE SUPLY AND RETURN METERS ARE ON THE BOILERS TO DETERMAN FUEL USEAGE.)
