During the removal process, it was it was not possible to remove the fiberglass tanks without destroying them and this inevitably led to the mixing of diesel fuel impacted soil with the groundwater. Although soil and groundwater remediation had begun at the location, construction activities prevented continue groundwater monitoring to meet FDEP Groundwater Cleanup Target Levels (GCTL). (Technical information on previous monitoring well locations and GCTLs results are available, on request, at the Safety and Emergency Management Office) A second remediation site is located at the C.W. Bill Young campus, Building 40. This location requires soil and groundwater remediation, due to a diesel fuel spill. Existing daily fuel tank within same building will be decommissioned.
