QUESTION: We have reviewed the RFIs in Amendment A0002 and the new specifications for the flooring. A few of the subs we are talking to have additional conflicts with the latest releases.
Please review the following and see if we can get clarification on them.
1) The specification requires a 3-year warranty. If the tiles are not to be entirely demolished, will the 1-year warranty be accepted? The 1-year warranty is acceptable to the A/E.
2) The specification notes a 2-cost system, but as described, this could turn into a 3-coat or
4-coat system. What system is needed? Provide a minimum 2 coat system. Verify specific requirements as systems vary by manufacturer.
3) Given that the pigmented topcoat would obscure the decorative quarts, what is the VA’s intent? Provide pigmented top coat as specified.
4) What specific chemicals and temperature ranges will the floor be exposed to for Novolac
Epoxy Technologies Inc. to issue a written warranty? Chemical Resistance in accordance ASTM D1308 - 02(2007), resisting sustained temperatures up to 120OC
(250OF)
5) For application equipment, are contractors limited to using screed box or hand trowel?
Can the use of a screed/gauge/cam rake be used? Contractors are to follow application instructions of the selected/approved manufacturer.
