Security Camera Upgrade Solicitation 36C24624B0009 Questions.
1. Is there an incumbent? If so, who?
Response: There is no incumbent.
2. Will the government confirm that in all accessible Ceilings throughout the facility, the contractor can use properly supported and spaced J-hooks to support cabling?
Response: Cabling shall be installed in existing cable trays located above corridor accessible ceilings. For areas where no cable trays exist pathways or j-hooks can be installed from the camera location to the nearest existing cable tray.
3. Will the government confirm there will be paint supplied to the contractor for proper matching of existing color for any required exposed conduit, supports, boxes, etc.?
Response: Contractor will be responsible for matching and providing paint.
4. Will the government confirm that the camera contractor can supply and install all required conduit, supports, boxes, etc. in any required exposed areas?
Response: The intent of this project is to provide conduit and cabling rough-in only for security cameras and PACS. Security equipment will be installed under separate future contract. Prefer to have a certified electrical contractor provide conduit and cabling rough-in.
5. A note on detail 2 of E501 calls for the installation of a composite access control cable and for 10 additional feet to be coiled up at each end. Besides that, no specifications were provided for PACS components. Can you confirm that the scope of work for PACS is for rough in only?
Response: Yes, PACS work is conduit and cable rough-in only.
6. A note on detail 2 of E501 If the intention is for the contractor to furnish all labor and material to control these 2 doors, can you provide information about your access control system and current service provider?
Response: PACS work is conduit and cable rough-in only
7. Note 2, Project Description on sheet G-001 calls for "provide power at multiple site locations for future wireless camera system and cameras." We did not see any other references to this scope of work anywhere else on the drawings. Is this still a requirement for this project and if so, can you provide additional information?
Response: Note #2 removed.
8. Can you please confirm that the intention is to have one new Cat6A cable installed at each new camera location?
Response: Yes, one new CAT6A cable for each camera location, terminated and tested.
9. Per existing conditions observed at the site visit, the sleeves through the wall extend not just through the wall but all the way to the data rack. On multiple sheets, new 2" sleeves are called to be installed, but appear to just go through the wall but not extend more than a few inches into the room.
Are we required to match the existing conditions with the newly installed sleeves or is through the wall only acceptable?
Response: Match existing conditions or provide new conduit sleeves to above nearest existing cable runway that routes to the IT rack within the IT room.
10. In the event drywall is required to be slotted for cable installation, and will then require patching and painting, will the VA provide a paint sample or paint so we can match existing and make the appropriate repair? For example, on sheet EY-126 one camera appears to be installed on a beam.
Unless surface raceway is permitted here, drywall slotting will likely be needed.
Response: Painted surface raceway or cutting and patching would be acceptable methods as coordinated in the field with the VA COR.
11. Will the contractor's superintendent be permitted to also serve as the
SSHO and the QA/QC manager?
Response: Superintendent can serve as SSHO but needs to have a separate
QA/QC manager.
12. On list of drawings in the specifications section 00 01 15, there are 35 sheets listed, on the drawing attachment, there are only 25 sheets. It appears the following sheets were not provided: EY-116, EY-118, EY-121, EY-
124, EY-125, EY-133, EY-141, EY-151, EY-161 & EY-163. Can you please provide these sheets?
Response: Sheets EY-116, EY-118, EY-121, EY-124, EY-125, EY-133, EY-141, EY-151, EY-161 & EY-163 has been removed spec updated.
13. Although the plans indicate that this project includes only the infrastructure and that the cameras and video recording is by others, the
SOW can be interpreted that we are to furnish and install new cameras.
Please clarify the intent of the scope of work.
Response: The intent of this project is to provide conduit and cabling rough-in only for security cameras and PACS. Security equipment will be installed under separate future contract.
