Amendment A00002 – Building One and Clinical Addition Roof Replacement Project
Clarification - HVAC coordination
The exact shutdown times for all HVAC equipment must be coordinated with the VAMC since virtually all areas serve active areas of the hospital. If acceptable shutdown windows cannot be achieved, temporary heating and ventilation will be the responsibility of the contractor. Air handling units serving inpatient care areas and all exhaust fans shall be interrupted for no more than 2 hours. Please note that the intent is for the contractors to coordinate their work so as to minimize complete removal of equipment – the intent would be to lift equipment with crane or roof jacks enough to perform the required roof flashing however, if this cannot be achieved the contractor may need to remove the units temporarily. Crane access will need to be coordinated with traffic around the hospital but may need to occur after hours or on weekends to accommodate VA schedule. Any units removed from the roof shall be protected from weather and other damage as well as roof openings and other terminations. The contractors will be responsible for reconnecting and restarting all ductwork, piping, controls, power, etc. No new controls or HVAC work is anticipated in the areas served. Note that the project specifications do require the contractor perform pre- and post-construction testing and balancing of all equipment. The VAMC has provided the following list of shutdown restriction requests:
