About this file

This is a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Department of Veterans Affairs project to upgrade the boiler plant at the Northport VA Medical Center in Northport, New York. The solicitation is a 100% set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) with a project value between $20-50 million and a completion time of 1,092 calendar days. The project involves demolishing and replacing the existing boiler plant equipment installed in 1968, which provides high-pressure steam and heating hot water for the main hospital and campus buildings.

Key project requirements include installing temporary steam-generating equipment, removing existing systems, constructing a new steam generation system with boilers, pumps, piping, and ancillary equipment, and renovating the boiler plant building. The project also involves integrating with an existing Combined Heat and Power Plant, improving employee service areas, and implementing comprehensive commissioning of systems including boilers, controls, HVAC, electrical, fire alarm, and security systems. The solicitation requires detailed technical capability, past performance, and schedule submissions. Proposals are due by 11:00am EST on July 9, 2025, with one mandatory site visit scheduled for June 16, 2025.
