528A7-18-726 Renovate 4B for Cardiology RFIs – Pre-Bid

1. Which page in the solicitation is the “Bid Tabulation Page” referenced on page 2 of the SF 1413?

VA Response: This was a typo error. There is no tabulation page.

2. Drawing HA-101 note 3 states the drawings show the extent of work, but the abatement drawing does not show anything. Is the hazardous material report also available?

VA Response: Drawing HA-101 has been updated. Hazardous materials assessment report is included.

3. Partition schedule calls for type 1 and 1.1 to have drywall on both sides of the partition. These wall types are called out in numerous areas that appear to be chases or against an outside wall. Please clarify these wall types for these areas.

VA Response: Wall type 1.1 indicates a stud wall with only one layer of sheetrock. Wall type 1 indicates a stud wall with one layer of sheetrock on each side of the studs. For all exterior wall locations, insulate the exterior walls with rigid insulation prior to enclosing with stud wall. Chase walls have been clarified on amendment drawings.

4. Echo rooms show cabinets over sinks, but no other exam rooms indicate cabinets.

VA Response: See architectural drawings for revisions. Provide overhead cabinets (shown in typical details F8/AS-200 and A6/AS-201) in both screening rooms B434 and B435 as well.

5. Spec section 081113, part 2.5.B.1 states the frames must galvanized or galvannealed. Is this necessary for interior frames?

VA Response: Yes, interior door frames are to be phosphatized.

6. There seems to be some confusion for the spec on the 4B cardiology project and the Terrazzo tile Spec. The room finish schedule calls for VTT. The first part of the spec sounds like it is a vinyl tile product and yet also makes mention that the floor needs to be ground after installation which sounds more in line a cement terrazzo tile product.

VA Response: The specification and finish schedule indicate to provide Floorazzo resilient terrazzo floor tile in the selected colors. This terrazzo tile is a flexible resin tile with embedded marble and glass chips. No grinding after tile installation is required.

7. Does drawing FD140 show the full extent of fire protection demolition?

VA Response: No. Contractor is responsible for removing and replacing fire protection as required for the new layout, for coordination with all other trades and as required by the hydraulic calculations that are completed by the contractor in accordance with NFPA 13 by a licensed NYS PE.

8. What manufacturer is the current fire alarm system by?

VA Response: Software programming for the existing Edwards Fire Alarm panel and fire detection monitoring services for the Syracuse VA are performed by Red Hawk.

9. Some of the room numbers shown on the mechanical drawings and schedules do not match the architectural drawings. Please clarify.

VA Response: Room numbers on Mechanical plans have been revised to match those on the Architectural plans.

10. Regarding the Trox CV Airflow Control Valves, there are no notes on the drawing schedule for the Trox box nor the points list that would suggest that these Trox boxes need to be controlled by the BAS. The spec for the CVs 233600 “Air Terminal Units” in section 2.3 Airflow Control Valves does not reference DDC controls either. Are we to assume that in this project the Trox Air flow valves will be standalone from the BAS or will they need to have BAS control like the 8th floor project. If they do need control please provide a points list/sequence and whether they will be by the manufacturer or ATC.

VA Response: Trox boxes are for manual balancing to the required air flows and are not be controlled or integrated into the BAS.

11. Drawings do not show any condensate piping coming from any of the new chilled beams. Additionally, I do not see any mention of it on the mechanical or plumbing drawings.

VA Response: Condensate piping is not required, but chilled beams are required to be equipped with an internal drip pan.

12. Type B1 – There is no design manufacturer/model specified. Please reference a design manufacturer and model for reference.

VA Response: See lighting schedule for clarifications.

13. Type C2 – Ambient/Exam/Reading 3-way function is not available on 2x2 fixtures. Nor is it available on the specified H.E. Williams unit. 3 functions are only available on 2x4 fixtures. We can provide Ambient/Exam function on 2x2. Please clarify.

VA Response: See lighting schedule for clarifications.

14. Type D1 – Fixture specified (AXIS Click) is a straight linear recessed fixture. One of the fixtures on the drawings (EL-141) is shown as a round configuration and is not available. Can you confirm fixture is being used in a recessed “cove” application? Please clarify.

VA Response: See lighting schedule for clarifications.

15. Types G1 – There is no design manufacturer/model specified. Please reference a design manufacturer and model for reference.

VA Response: See lighting schedule for clarifications.

16. Types F1, F2, and U1 – Please reference a design manufacturer and model for reference.

VA Response: See lighting schedule for clarifications.

17. Lights within the project area are normal power circuits with the exception of some of the corridor lights that are on emergency power. Does the VA not want some of the room lights to be on emergency power?

VA Response: See electrical drawings for revisions.

18. Is there a specific manufacturer needed for the Nurse Call system? There is no spec section for nurse call.

VA Response: The existing Rauland Responder 5 nurse call headend is located in IT Closet C403A.

19. Room B417 Echo shows Nurse Call within the room but does not show a dome light in the corridor. Is a dome light in the corridor required for this room?

VA Response: Yes, see electrical drawing revisions. Provide corridor dome lights at each room containing nurse call stations as indicated and also provide a 7th dome light in the corridor for room B432 Public Toilet.

20. Some rooms show Nurse Call ‘N bed’ designations which are noted as 37-pin bed receptacles on drawing E-001. Is the intent really to provide 37-pin bed receptacles or are Staff Assist buttons required?

VA Response: See electrical drawing revisions. Provide Staff Assist/Code Stations model Rauland Responder 354015 at locations now indicating ‘N CB’.

21. Per KN #1 on drawing EY-141, we are to provide new cable tray to match existing. Please provide the manufacturer of the existing cable tray.

VA Response: Contractor may provide Flextray welded wire mesh cable tray by Cooper B-Line. Contractor to confirm the existing cable tray prior to preparing submittals.
