Subject: 36C24219B0058 – Renovation of 9B for Surgery and Diagnostics RFI #2

Below are the questions and responses that have been asked regarding the Renovation of 9B for

Surgery and Diagnostics during the bid period.

1. FCU – 1 is slated to be temporarily removed and reinstalled. Are the existing controls to be disconnected/reconnected or are new to be provided? MI-701 lists FCU points however drawings do not call it out.

Response: FCU-1 existing control points are to be re-used.

2. SPEC 230923 Section 1.1 F states “existing DDC system is siemens Desigo and Johnson

Controls FX” it should read “Existing DDC system is Siemens Desigo and Johnson

Controls Metasys product”. – The Metasys system utilizes a Johnson Controls B-AWS server.

Response: Noted for the specification verbiage.

DIRTT Specific Questions

Door and Hardware Clarifications:

3. HW Set 1 for doors B905 & B918 specify a Stanley hinge with an edge guard. Can we substitute these with DIRTT’s Standard, Stanley 4 1/2” x 4” F179 hinges instead?

Response: Yes, for the walls within the panel system a 4 ½” x 4 F179 hinge may be used.

4. DIRTT Barn Doors – full height square pulls are specified. DIRTT standard pulls are round/cylindrical but does offer a blade profile option. Please confirm that blade

(rectangular) 72” bar pulls are what is intended.

Response: Specification section 10 22 19 2.11 has been revised for cylindrical pulls. Rectangular pulls are not accepted.

Electrical/ Data Clarification:

5. Is the intention to use DIRTT modular power with zone box distribution or would pre-wired conventional 20-amp outlets with MC flex cable with whips into the plenum be acceptable? In either case the EC would need to be responsible for termination to the base building.

Response: The DIRTT walls must have the modular power with zone box distribution. MC flex whips for each outlet is unacceptable.

6. Is healthcare rated (green MC) cabling required? Are patient care receptacles required?

Response: HealthCare rated Green MC cable is to be used. Hospital rated Outlets are to be used as per the specifications.

7. For data, DIRTT will provide pre-mounted conventional back boxes and faceplates only.

Due to the clerestories specified we cannot provide rigid conduit to the plenum. DIRTT will provide horizontal pathways for the wiring in the frame assemblies. Please note that all plenum rated network cabling, data jacks, and installation thereof is to be provided by others. Also, please choose what faceplate type and color selection.

Response: Voice and Data outlet covers shall be ivory. Outlets need to follow the specifications for outlets. Red faceplate and power cover for emergency power, for normal power they shall be ivory.

Finish Clarifications:

7. The specifications show both clear anodized aluminum powder coated finishes for the

DIRTT extrusions. Please clarify which is the intended finish.

Response: Specification 10 22 19 2.16 has been modified to only show Clear Anodized finishes.

Acoustic Clarifications:

8. A-001 shows DIRTT wall partitions with a 47 STC rating, which is not possible as drawn. In order to achieve the highest STC rating possible with the specified design, we have made the following provisions:

a. Double insulation within wall cavity

b. Acoustic enhancements using closed cell foam for a full perimeter seal

c. Double glazed clerestories instead of one pane of center mounted glass

d. Annealed 10mm laminated glass used instead of 6mm tempered glass in doors and clerestories.

To the best of our knowledge this will achieve an estimated 43 STC rating. Please confirm if this is acceptable.

Response: A-001, and specification section 10 22 19 2.2 System Performance have been revised to show an STC rating of 43. Specification section 10 22 19 2.3 Materials has been revised to show the Glass Panels are to be double glazed panels, also the thickness of the laminated glass instead of the tempered glass has been modified.

Curvilinear extrusion profile is specified – this is only applicable with center mounted glass segments, exposed end wall, and door frame conditions. We need to utilize double-glazed clerestories (evil twin profile shown below) in order to achieve the highest possible STC rating. We recommend using the rectilinear profile on end wall and door frame conditions in effort to keep the aesthetic consistent. Please confirm if this is acceptable.

Response: The rectilinear profile should be used to keep a consistent look.

General Clarifications:

9. A-001 shows DIRTT wall partitions as 4 7/8” wide finished assembly. This is incorrect, as DIRTT’s standard is a 4” wide partition from finished face to finished face. Please confirm this is acceptable?

Response: A-001 has been modified to show a 4” partition instead of a 4 7/8” partition.

10. DIRTT horizontal reveals (antlers) are specified at 2’ – 5”. These can support millwork, furniture, and storage with the correct bracketry. At this time, we are unable to provide any of this bracketry in our base bid price until quantities, locations, and further details are provided. Please confirm this is acceptable or provide the necessary information.

Response: All furniture that is shown on the plans are free standing.

11. Per specification SECTION 09 84 33 SOUND-ABSORBING WALL UNITS the panels are called out to be 9’ high. Confirm that the height of the glass transom portion of the panel is to be from the top of the door to the ceiling in all situations?

Response: Refer to Drawing A-701 for elevation view of the demountable panels.

12. Per specification SECTION 09 84 33 SOUND-ABSORBING WALL UNITS where panels are perpendicular to main walls do the “stub” walls contain an end steel vertical support post to stabilize the wall? Please verify

Response: The “stub” walls are designed as demountable partition that is supported by the ceiling and the flooring. Refer to drawing A-701 for detail for end cap for the “stub” wall.

13. What are the window dimensions for window shades?

Response: Contractor shall verify in field actual window dimensions and window quantity for shades. Below is a list of window sizes, however the VA is not responsible for any discrepancies from what is below and what is in the field.

16 windows – 5’ 4” x 5’ 6” Contractor to Verify in Field Quantity and Size

11 Windows – 3’ 6” x 5’ 6” Contractor to Verify in Field Quantity and Size

4 Windows – 3’ 6” x 5’ 0 1/2” Contractor to Verify in Field Quantity and Size

14. Please release a copy of the site visit sign in sheet which was conducted on 17th Oct 2019.

Response: Sign in sheet is included.

15. Does the Syracuse VA want a ¼” or 3/8” pour of CMP/Ardex self leveler? Finished off by a light skim coat. Or do they want floors prepared by hand knowing there will be imperfections in the end (many coats of patching 3-4 coats usually necessary to give the VA what they want by hand).

Response: Refer to specifications 03 53 00 Concrete Topping, 09 05 16 Subsurface Preparation for Floor Finishes for tolerance change. Specification 09 05 16 Subsurface Preparation for Floor

Finishes 3.4 states “Apply self-leveling underlayment without cold joints. The entire floor shall be continuous”. The 09 05 16 Subsurface Preparation for Floor Finish specification is used in addition to the 03 53 00 Concrete Topping specification and not lieu of the Concrete Topping.

16. Per door schedule on drawing A-401 the doors are noted as sliders but don’t seem to be noted in the scope of services. Was that the intention to have sliders?

Response: Refer to specification section 10 22 19 Demountable Partitions for reference to the doors.

17. Hardware set 1 calls out a cylindrical lockset AND an electrified lockset. Which is to be used and if electrified what is the basis of design?

Response: Refer to revised specification section 08 71 00 Door Hardware for revised hardware schedule.

18. Hardware set 2 calls out a door operator. The specs don’t give much information in this area. Please provide make and model that is required.

Response: Refer to specification section 08 71 13 on the requirement for the automatic door operator.

19. The door schedule shows an “A” fire rating (3hr) on wood and glass doors. This isn’t possible, please advise the rating needed.

Response: Refer to drawing A-401 for a revised door schedule.

20. The door schedule shows A900 as a RH door and drawings show LH, A904 is listed as

LH and drawing shows LHR, 9S5 shows LH and drawings shows RH. Please advise which one is needed.

Response: Refer to drawing A-401 for a revised door schedule.

21. We are unable to locate the finish schedule for the doors which is noted to be on document 09 06 00 which we are unable to find.

Response: Refer to drawing A-702 for a revised finish schedule. Disregard any mention of 09 06

00 for the finish schedule, refer to the finish schedule on A-702.

22. Provide clarification for detail 14 on drawing MG-501, does this detail apply to VAV reheats and duct reheats.

Response: Yes they apply.

23. Drawing MI-701 Detail 1 VAV Box Control – Added Item E – Control return terminal units (TU) airflow to match supply airflow with adjustable offset.

24. Drawing MI-702 Point List – Replaced with updated schedule, see attached.

Changes to drawings AE-101, A-001 A-101, A401, A702, MI-701, MI-702 occurred.

Changes to specification sections 03 53 00, 08 71 00, 08 71 13, 09 05 16, 10 22 19 occurred.
