Text version

1. M101 notes that the temporary boiler should be provided with a gateway connection for remote BAS monitoring and to coordinate with VA Gateway connection, monitoring points and kill switch options. This statement is not clear. Is connection of the temporary boiler to the existing Siemens BAS required to be included in this contract? If so please provide details on what protocol is desired and where the wiring must extend to tie in, as well as quantity of points to be tied in.

Connection to existing system shall be part of contract with temporary boiler rental service agreement. Integration of controls is not part of this contract.

2. TAB spec 230593 was included. Please confirm which systems are to be balanced if balancing is required.

Testing and balancing will be part of the rental agreement, under their start up services.

3. What duration is the temporary boiler required?

To be determined at a later date, as needed.

4. Please confirm it is within the scope of this project to include all temporary boiler rental costs and fees.

Not part of this project scope.

5. Please confirm boiler inspections will be performed by VA boiler inspector and that a separate inspector is not required to be hired.

Boiler inspection performed by VA & temp boiler provider. All other inspections for the temporary connections, such as weld, shall be part of this contract.

6. Specification 230541 is included for noise and vibration control, however none is apparent in the design. Please advise what is specifically required for noise and vibration control.

None.

7. Insulation specification 230711 is provided. This piping is temporary and typically does not require the same insulation thicknesses as permanent installations. Please confirm that the insulation required is per the typical 230711 provided.

Why would insulation requirements change for temporary? I feel this shall remain in-place, costs associated with piping insulation appear to be minimal. Connections shall be installed as permanent.

8. Specification 230911 contains specifications for a complete new boiler controls system which does not apply to this project with only a temporary boiler. Please confirm this specification can be disregarded or advise what specific portions are applicable.

Disregard, temp boiler controls to be provided by others.

9. Specification 232111 par 2.22 is for an engineered piping support system for new installations that require delegated design and analysis software. The drawings detail the hangers and methods for installation and this type of delegated-design engineered system is not typical for temporary systems and is costly. Please confirm if this is required.

Disregard, no additional analytical software is needed to size supports.

10. Specification 232211 par 3.3.H and 232213 par 3.2.H requires radiographic (x-ray) testing of welds. Please confirm if this is required for this as typically temporary piping is not x-rayed.

Temporary connections are subject to the same pressure and temperatures as permanent system, therefore radiographic testing is required.

11. Will there be a hazardous material survey provided?

No, prior hazardous material site surveys and abatement project information, if any, will be provided for informational purposes only.

12. What is the rental period of performance?

Rental period to be determined at a later date.
