About this file

This document contains answers to questions regarding solicitation number 36C24124B0013 from the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 1 for fire door and damper repairs. The questions and answers provide clarification on the level of accessibility required for non-accessible dampers, containment requirements which refer to the project construction requirements manual, allowed work hours on weekends and evenings to conduct the work as the hospital is open from 6am to 5pm, and a commitment to provide additional documentation with amendments to help locate each door and damper as the current spreadsheet made their locations difficult to determine.

1. Question: Accessibility of Non-Accessible Dampers For dampers that are currently non-accessible, what level of effort is expected to make them accessible? Is there a plan to address these as part of future improvements or renovations?

Answer: Contractor should make reasonable efforts and then document ones which cannot be made clear. They are not part of future renovations.

2. Question: Containment Requirements:

Is containment required throughout the entire facility, or only in patient care areas?

Answer: Refer to PCRA.

3. Question: Work Hours and Scheduling:

What are the allowed working hours for this project? Are weekends and evenings available for work?

Answer: Off hours are available. Hospital is open 6am-5pm.

4. Question:

Upon review of the spreadsheet provided, the locations of doors and dampers are difficult to determine without a specific visual aide. Is there a visual aid available from this inspection such as plans or drawings that mark the exact location of each door and damper? If not, an additional inspection will need to be performed before job start. Would this be acceptable?

Answer: Will provide additional documentation with this amendment.
