001 Will the contractor be required to provide their own medical PPE while working on the project site?

Yes, the contractor will be required to provide all medical PPE including, but not limited to gowns, hair coverings, facemasks, gloves, boot covers, and any other medical PPE required by VA regulations, guidelines, or Operating Room Staff. All PPE shall be approved by the VACOR prior to use.

002 Can we confirm the LF of 4" epoxy cove base to be installed? Roughly 1400-1500LF?

Contractor shall use scaled plans to estimate total quantity of 4" epoxy cove base to be installed.

003 Will we be able to work normal working hours?

All work shall be conducted during off-business hours unless otherwise authorized by the VA CO.

Construction work hours will be between 18:30-05:30. All work, to include cleanup, shall be complete, and the space vacated by 05:30.

004 What kind of floors is it?

New flooring to be installed is identified on contract plans and specifications. Existing flooring varies by location but is generally adhered.

005 Do you expect each phase one after another with no breaks in between?

The general intent is to complete one phase after another, so that the entire contract can be completed within the POP. The contractor should anticipate minor breaks between phasing to allow clinical engineering to set-up renovated spaces and remove equipment in areas for subsequent phasing.

006 Is there an asbestos / mastic / abatement / hazardous material report or study available?

No report is available. The last asbestos material report is from 2010, which is prior to the building addition.

007 Will it be possible to have a dumpster kept on site for the demolition process?

Space is limited at the Jamaica Plains VA campus. The facilities team will try to accommodate a dumpster on site, however there is no explicit location that is guaranteed or reserved for contractors. If space is available at the time of construction, the VA will provide a location to place a dumpster. The available location may no be immediately adjacent to the job site. If no space is available, the contractor will be responsible for hauling debris daily.

008 Will a negative pressure containment system be required during the floor installation process or just the demolition process?

The contractor will be required to comply with Level IV ICRA requirements throughout construction. This includes demolition and installation. The contractor shall provide as many negative air machines as necessary to provide adequate pressure differentials between the construction area and adjacent areas to remain compliant with VA IC policies.

009 Will it be the contractor’s responsibility to disassemble any medical equipment in any areas where work is to be performed?

The Contractor will not be responsible for removing clinical equipment or furniture. To be removed by VA. Contractor to coordinate with VA for removal based on approved phasing plans and contract schedule.

010 From the site-walk, it appears the electrical rooms F3-44 and F3-65 may be mislabeled and are storage closets. Is the floor to be replace in these rooms.

The contractor shall install flooring in all storage rooms that are directly connected to OR Rooms 1-8 so long as the flooring is continuous. Including F3-44 and F3-65
