QUESTION
RESPONSE
1
Sign Schedule – There’s no sign schedule that I could find on the drawings. Can one be provided showing the quantities of the S1-S5 signs called out on AE-102?
Room sign locations provided on 1/AE-102.
2
Sign Types 1 and 2 – Can we get detailed dimensions on both sign types showing the frame and “wing” dimensions? To that point, the height of the smallest Vista extrusion is 4.73” which means the wing could only be approximately 1.75”H at its highest point which would be too short to include the room number in ADA on the wing assuming they wanted to stay with the 6.5” overall height. It may or may not be an issue for S2 but we won’t know that until we get the exact dimensions. Also, we’d like to know the thickness of the wings (I’m assuming 1/8”) and whether they are assuming the frame will be mounted on it (I’m assuming it is) versus the wing sitting separately above the frame. Can we get the color of the frame and end caps? The frame colors are brushed silver and black and the end caps are grey and black plastic. Finally, they call out a metal accent strip however the frame channel on the top actually serves that purpose so an accent strip would be redundant. I’ve attached the frame drawing for our WFFL11 frame which is basically what we’d use for the S1 sign type (except we’d make it 8.5”W)
Manufacturers are not specified in order to promote completive bidding.
Please reference provided Basis of Design, Signage document.
3
Sign Type S4 – Much like Sign Type S1 the WFFL11 frame at 8.5” wide is the narrowest/smallest extrusion that Vista offers and what we’d use for S1 and S4 sign types. The OD height is 4.73” so unless they change the overall height on both sign types, we would not be able to quote them.
Please clarify, what is the question being asked?
Reference answer above, signage is provided as basis of design.
4
Are we using our own forms for price breakdown proposals?
VA: Yes you can use your own forms to provide a detailed price breakdown in accordance with the Price/Cost Schedule
5
Form 1442 – 13a – do mailed copies have to arrive prior to bid date and time?
VA: No mailed copies are necessary. Please email proposals to tiffany.garfield@va.gov
6
What is existing ceiling height and existing height of sprinkler mains?
The ceiling throughout is 9 feet tall. The sprinklers protrude 1 to 2 inches.
7
What is infection control plan? It does not specify in drawings or specs.
For non-clinical construction projects, infection control is not required. Please refer to Sheet GI-001, General Notes, Item 4 and Sheet AD-100, General Demolition Notes, Item 3 for dust mitigation requirements. Tape and seal existing doors connecting to adjacent spaces not in contract.
8
Are workstations to be built by contractor?
No.
9
Furniture / Fixture equipment. No specs for the items on the schedule except for FEC cabinets and defib cabinets. Is this a contractor or owner provide?
Owner to provide all items not specified.
10
Relevancy assessment asks for past performance to be $1-$2 million. Can it be over $2million or only between the range given?
Past Performance can exceed the dollar threshold but not less than $1M.
11
Are RFI’s going to be answered during walk thru or can there be an extension to address additional questions.
All RFIs are to be submitted in writing to tiffany.garfield@va.gov no later than 12:00pm EST on October 26, 2021
12
Can you share the contact information for the window Vendor?
Manufacturers are not specified in order to promote completive bidding.
13
Can the owner provide written permission to remove and replace a window to remove waste out of the building?
As long as the contractor replaces the window at the end of the work day, we can provide a written disctiption.
14
Please provide a specification for the access flooring.
Reference Specification 09 69 00 and Basis of Design for Access Flooring
15
Can the existing access flooring system be reused or shall the entire flooring system be demolished and new?
Reference the Design Narrative, Page 1.
Reference AD-100, Demo Keynote 2.04.
The existing access flooring was observed to be in poor condition and should be demolished and replaced with new system.
