RFI Questions for Construction of Perimeter Fence at the St Petersburg VA Regional Office:
1. The drawings show the electrical lighting of the building/parking/landscape as part of the SOW - during the site visit discussion that site lighting of the building, sidewalk, parking areas and landscape areas is deleted from SOW. Please provide revised set of red line drawings for electrical work deleted from the SOW.
ANSWER: No, red line drawings unavailable. See SOW
2. During the site visit there was discussion that the work associated with the installation of the new security fence would be during normal work hours, normal work hours are presumed to be Monday through Friday, hours of 7 AM to 5 PM.
This contradicts the SOW where work hours are off-hours Monday through Friday, 6 PM to 6 AM.
ANSWER: Any work that creates a disruption (i.e., jackhammering) will be done after hours. All other work can be done between 6AM and 6PM.
3. Please confirm the work hours for this project.
ANSWER: See #2
4. During the site visit the VA and attendees visited the 1st floor IT room. Within the
IT room there are several existing conduits (form exterior data/communication MH). Existing duct bank of conduits had spare conduit and / or available space.
Please confirm contractor is permitted to use existing conduit (assuming space or spare is available) to route new signal cable from the exterior into the IT room.
ANSWER: Contractor is permitted to use existing conduit (assuming space or spare is available) to route new signal cable from the exterior into the IT room
5. Demolition plan AD100, AD102, AD103 identifies existing landscaping to be altered or removed - see keynote #1. Demolition plan AD101 no keynote #1 - is existing landscaping shown on AD101 to remain? Please confirm.
ANSWER: The landscaping around the perimeter will have to be removed to make room for the fence footers.
6. Prints do not detail a restoration plan for landscape areas where existing landscaping / vegetation / trees have been removed. Please provide detail showing plan for restoration of these disturbed areas.
ANSWER: None will be restored
7. Trees identified to be removed – can trees be cut level with the ground and stump /roots left in place?
ANSWER: No. Stumps and roots need to be removed.
8. At the southeast corner of Existing Building 46 "D", column labeled "P3", the new fence is to be built crossing an open grass area. Just outside of the building and parking apron at P3 there is a surface grade drop of about 4-ft (grade at the grass area is about 4-ft lower than the surface grade at the edge of building 46).
Drawings do not have a detail for construction of the fence where there is a steep grade change. Please provide detail(s) showing how the fence is to be built in this area.
ANSWER: Follow the grade
9. Prints AD100, AD102 and AD103 per keynote #1 indicate where existing landscaping is to be removed. Print AD101 doesn’t show landscaping with keynote #1. Is existing landscaping shown on print AD101 to remain/undisturbed?
