About this file

The document is a set of Questions and Answers related to an Invitation to Bid (ITB) for the Glenada Ridge and Yaquina Head Comm Site Builds project issued by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). This project involves the installation of a new communication shelter and infrastructure at the Glenada Ridge location, as well as the replacement of an existing shelter with a new prefabricated shelter at the Yaquina Head location. The document provides responses to various questions related to the project, including the provision of a pre-installed generator, the responsibility for the existing shelter at Yaquina Head, the weight of the new shelter, and the responsibility for providing a crane to pick up the shelters.

The document indicates that the contractor is responsible for the disposal of the existing shelter at Yaquina Head, including any applicable hazardous waste requirements. The cost increase for disposal in the event that hazardous materials are found should be included in the bid pricing as an option for consideration. The new shelter at Yaquina Head has a pre-installed Cummins generator, and the weight of the new shelter is 49,000 lbs. The contractor is responsible for supplying the crane to pick up the shelters from the ODOT yards.

Glenada Ridge and Yaquina Head – Comm Site Builds

Questions and Answers #2

Glenada Ridge Location (Questions 1-3 were previously answered in Q&A 1) Question 1: Will the new shelter come with a pre-installed generator?

Answer 1: The generator will be installed by ODOT after the building is installed on site.

Answer 2: ODOT provides the tank and is currently located in the Salem Yard.

Question 3: Is it an option to pour an 8’’solid concrete wall in place of the CMU retaining wall?

Answer 3: No, Lane County required the wall to be engineered, so a change would require re-engineering and county re-review and approval.

Yaquina Head Location Question 4: In regards to the Existing shelter - Does ODOT want this shelter to be moved to another location or is it up to the contractor to dispose of it? If the contractor is to dispose of the shelter, who is responsible for the hazardous materials report on the shelter?

Answer 4: The disposal of the existing building is the responsibility of the contractor including any applicable hazardous waste requirements. In the event that asbestos, lead, or other hazardous materials are found in the building during testing, the additional cost would be covered on a cost change order. The cost increase for disposal in the event that hazardous materials are found shall be included in the bid pricing as an option for consideration as part of the bid review. This option pricing should include five (5) scenarios (if pricing for each is different) - only asbestos, only lead, both lead and asbestos, only other hazardous materials, and all three combined (asbestos, lead, and hazardous).
