About this file

This technical specification document is for fabricated stainless steel slide gates prepared for Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) for the Kuwahee Wastewater Treatment Plant (KWWTP) Primary Clarifier Influent Upgrades project. The specification details requirements for ten slide gates with specific dimensions of 60-inch width and 45-inch height, designed for a 2.2-foot operating head, and to be controlled by motor-operated open/close mechanisms. The gates are to be manufactured in compliance with American Water Works Association (AWWA) standards, utilizing stainless steel Type 316L materials, and must include features such as replaceable UHMW polyethylene seals, channel section guide frames, and rising stem operators.

The technical specification provides extensive details on material requirements, performance standards, and installation expectations, with specific requirements for fabrication, testing, and quality control. Manufacturer qualifications include a minimum of 20 years of experience designing water control gates and having manufactured gates for at least 100 projects. The specification mandates rigorous testing, including a continuous 3-hour performance test and manufacturer's on-site representation for installation assistance, testing, and owner personnel training. The gates are expected to be delivered between June 1st and June 30th, 2025, with pricing to include delivery fees and evaluation based on price, specification adherence, and lead time.
